Torian

Torian, considered by many to be the Artisan and Elven Stronghold of Zionar, is a city housing a population of 9000 individuals with 90% of them being elves while the rest is being skilled artisans and merchants affiliated with the “High Artisan Confederation” Guild because of their history. Monarch Alber Cormillia Von Purril Teirminot Shin Volo IV is the current king, whose family has ruled the city for most of its existence. He is a king loved by most of the city’s population although considered having a bias towards elven interests as he was responsible for several controversial laws the most famous of which makes it illegal for non-elves to have any form of permanent residence within the city’s confines without express permission from the king. This doesn’t stop taverns from temporarily housing non-elves, so this city is used mostly by non-elves as a checkpoint during their journeys and a holiday location to partake in the city’s many small festivals. The city is rebuilding from an Ork attack which 673 AC, 4 Zopha where several Ork-made airships attacked the city during an event and kidnapped several individuals but defeated by their small military.

Demographics

90% of the population is Elves while 10% of the rest is non-elves affiliated with the Artisan guild. They allow the other races to stay in town Inn’s for a limited period unless allowed an extended period of presence permitted only by the king. In rare cases, they give celebrated individuals the right to set up residence in town, but this is rare.

Government

It has by the illustrious Cormillia Von Purril Teirminot Shin Volo family who have dedicated their lives for the better of elves continent-wide starting with their own city. The Monarch has been always a king who is the eldest son of the family but nothing according to law stop a female from taking the throne. They decided that their current generations eldest daughter would take the throne but after an Incident; the family put forth their eldest son as the new Monarch. This has been suppressed with only snippets of information allowing people to piece together any information. Another bit of information that leaked out was that the Monarchy possesses some powerful magic weapon capable of destroying the even the strongest of the Drow during the Drow Subjugation led by the family 300 years ago and even now, it remains stored within a secret room in the family’s citadel, castle Braknor.

Defences

The city’s defences are lead mostly by the Torian Guard, which comprise heavily armoured elven soldiers, who use traditional elven weaponry such as war blades and longbows. Their military might in ground-based combat famous around the entire continent but their lack of Anti-air defences lends them weak to even a single heavily armed warship. It proved this true during the Orkish raid which occurred on 4th of Zopha, 673 AD, when a large contingent of Ork’s led by a War Chief launched a siege on the town, kidnapping several people. The Guard with their military strength forced them to retreat after an estranged battle. This led the city to buy many Anti-air Ballistae to reinforce their defence against any other attack.

Industry & Trade

The City’s main trade is Artisan goods ranging from Traditional artwork made by master artists in the “High Artisan Confederation” to Branded butter raised in the luxurious farm in the southern part of the city. The city also actively trades the more common magical items because of them, being easier to maintain while still being expensive enough to bring in a profit. The bazaar itself is independent from the general trade of the city as the bazaar can have a new set of trades on any day and thus the goods and items while legal are still hard to track.

Infrastructure

Torian has only a single road going through the centre of the city allowing the guards to seal off the two entrances if needed while a patrol of guards around the walls is present to foil any bandits or the like. The city itself has a main bazaar where, at any day, a person may find anything ranging from a rare statuette to a religious painting. The Lake itself provides a relaxing view for the residThe city because of its proximity to forlorn has an ample supply of the more common magical items, but rarer ones are still scarce in the stores. Guilds and Factions

The high artisan confederation started in this very city as a Dwarven merchant, Sir Dion impressed Alber’s father, King Rodic, with his collection of artefacts to such a degree that King Rodic felt compelled to let him set up shop so he may spread this collection around his city to spread their beauty. Sir Dion, in gratitude, gave the entire collection to the king in return for money so he may start a guild to collect and spread beautiful artefacts around the continent. Rodic complied and took the collection but its current location is unknown as it is said the collection comprised many powerful tools of magic that would be dangerous for any evil person to hold and thus he hid it in some hidden space in the castle before his son took the throne. The Guild from then onward has stood true to its word and even 200 years later, continues to spread beauty through the lands with its groups of aspiring artisans, ambitious blacksmiths, inspiring playwrights and so on.

Architecture

Following Elven traditions, the city uses Fae Wood in all their buildings. The only real exceptions to this are the castle and town walls which both use stone structure to reinforce the structures against explosions. Most of the buildings have foliage growing on them which gives them a very natural look and the city naturally blends in with the surrounding Elven woods.

Natural Resources

The proximity to the Fae forest provides a stable supply of Fae wood, used heavily in defensive structures and in artisan goods. The large lake provides a stable water source and a scenic view for visitors. The soil because of the lake is very fertile and most of the southern part of town is farming territory which provides the town with a stable supply of food and dairy products, sold as branded products.
