Councilmember

The Cedar Council has the most control over the laws and regulations of Mallowa, and was created in order to have a higher authority than the Mages, who would almost surely run mad with power if they were handed the most powerful positions in the country.

Councilmembers must be elected by Mallowan citizens and may not be Magi.

While it's true that councilmembers are under an immense amount of pressure in their everyday lives, there is no more prestigious position in the entire country than their occupation, and the job ensures that their names will live on in infamy for eons to come.

Purpose

The Council has the final say on the laws exercised in Mallowa. They can create their own bills, which they must pitch to the rest of the council, and they all collectively vote on the laws proposed to them from city mayors.

History

In the pre-Titianium era, Mallowa was founded and was ruled by a dynasty of kings. After the Mallowan Revolution, however, a new age was ushered in, called the post-Titanium era. Since then, Mallowa has been governed by the Cedar Council.

In the heart of Cedar is the Court Building, where each councilmember has their own private chambers. The building is also equipped with a large private library, a private dining hall, several deliberation and recreation rooms, and the Main Hall, where decisions about laws are made and finalized.

Becoming a councilmember essentially means putting a huge target on your back; for this reason, all councilmembers are required to travel with security personnel in public.
