Harmonius Lucius
Harmonus Lucius, aka Lucies, is used in many medicinal herbs and healing kits. The flowers are usually large, showy and brightly coloured, generally red, pink, yellow, or white (usually in warm colours). They often have a different coloured blotch at the base of the tepals (petals and sepals, collectively), internally. Lucies originally were found in a band stretching Southern Elderon. In their natural state they are adapted to steppes and mountainous areas with temperate climates. Flowering in the spring, they become dormant in the summer once the flowers and leaves die back, emerging above ground as a shoot from the underground bulb in early spring.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The flowers are usually large, showy and brightly coloured, generally red, pink, yellow, or white (usually in warm colours). The Stamen glow and replicating insects movement to facilitate pollination. They often have a different coloured blotch at the base of the tepals (petals and sepals, collectively), internally. From the roots a straight purple stem emerges from the soil.
Genetics and Reproduction
Lucies reproduce with seeds in the wild by scattering the seeds at the end of the flowering season. The seeds scatter naturally, falling on the ground around the base of the plants. Wild Lucies also reproduce from bulbs. Having two methods gives the plant a backup plan. If rain, picking or lack of pollinators fail to create viable seeds, the bulbs come up again in the spring. When seeds do germinate and grow, the population is strengthened by the genetic diversity in the colony.
Growth Rate & Stages
Lucies bloom after 30 to 45 days from when growth begins.
Ecology and Habitats
Lucies originally were found in a band stretching Southern Elderon. In their natural state they are adapted to steppes and mountainous areas with temperate climates.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Lucies need water weekly until the ground freezes. Rainy summers, irrigation systems, and wet soil are death to lucies. Wet soil leads to fungus and disease and can rot bulbs.
Biological Cycle
Flowering in the spring, they become dormant in the summer once the flowers and leaves die back, emerging above ground as a shoot from the underground bulb in early spring.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Lucies perceive the world around them through photo-receptors throughout their stem and leaves. Being able to see colors in red and blue, and some waves of light unknown to humans.
