Mud Blob

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Mud Blob is coated in a heavy layer of brown slime that often falls away from its own body. It does not possess any bones, muscle, tissue, or cartilage.

Genetics and Reproduction

As Mud Blobs do not have genders, they do not reproduced sexually. As one ages and grows larger, it will eventually split in half once it dies.

Growth Rate & Stages

A Mud Blob has five different growth stages. Stage one is its baby form, when it cannot move until it enters stage two, which is when it grows by half a block and is able to jump, although it is unable to deal damage to humans. As it is too young and small to ambush-hunt, it hunts fairies and consumes them until it enters its third growth stage, when it grows to a full block in size. It is at this stage that it is able to hide in singular block openings to begin ambush-hunting until it develops into stage four, when it doubles in size and continues hunting. At stage five, it leaves its home in search of a new place to split apart and continue the cycle anew.

Ecology and Habitats

Frequently spawns in the swamp, mountain, and ocean biomes, occasionally spawns everywhere else.

Dietary Needs and Habits

During stage two of its life cycle, the Mud Blob sustains itself off of fairies, chasing after them until it can catch them. From stage three onward, the Mud Blob is an ambush predator that disguises itself as a mud block and lies in wait for anything to walk over it before enlarging itself to engulf its prey whole. The prey cannot easily escape and is eventually digested. Its diet consists of whatever it can catch.

Biological Cycle

During the winter, the Mud Block goes dormant and stops producing brown slime in order to sustain itself. It becomes nearly indistinguishable from an ordinary block of dirt in this time.

Additional Information

Domestication

Mud Blobs can be tamed by giving one smooth dirt or food, usually between 3 and 10 of the latter.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Are often used as living traps to catch and devour unwanted trespassers and enemies, while ignoring friends.

Average Intelligence

This species is unintelligent, although it does have the mental capacity to feel emotions, though only basic ones such as sadness, anger, and happiness.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Mud Blob is able to see, but its eyesight is not good. It uses the vibrations in the ground in order to sense its surroundings. Its hearing is equal to that of a human's.

Civilization and Culture

History

Mud Blobs were added to Majicraft when it was in Alpha and is widely acknowledged by the community and by Mojang as the mascot of Majicraft. They have went through many changes in terms of functionality, but their AI remains roughly the same.

Historical Figures

One of Majicraftia's great heroes had a pet Mud Blob that went with her on her journey.
