The First Lands

A singular supercontinent upon which The Being  created the first living creatures.   After having made the universe long, long ago , The Being still felt there was something missing. There were many intricate creations, yet none to appreciate them. And so, he begun working on a home that would house the first living creatures. A home that can suit as many different creatures as there are many different celestial bodies. Every being had a purpose, yet would evolve and adapt, never knowing truly settling on a singular form. These were the "First Lands," a mythical place that served to be the cradle of all life and the starting point for civilization. The first people, the "Primortales."   It was thanks to this that they managed to propagate and prosper. First creating villages, then settlements, then towns, and then cities. The first of which being dubbed "Eden." Other cities would soon follow. The major ones being: Aesirheim to the north of the continent, Eutamia to the south, Tenjia to the east, Icarus to the west, and Avalon in the center. Naturally leading to the development of a unique culture in every region.   The lands were not without hardship and struggle, be it from the elements or from other creatures that were created directly or indirectly, but it was a time when all one had to worry about was worship. And that was what tied the Primortales all together, their worship of their god, The Being that had created them.     However, their worship wasn’t just regulated to the singular god, but also to the things he created and the experiences they have encountered, giving strength to these concepts.     The first “gods” were born. And with them, their respective domains taken up residence in a suitable plane. In essence, The First Lands were where all of creation be they man, god, or monster, truly began.

Historical Basis

As this event occurred eons upon eons ago, evidence that proves the affair are far and few between. The only records and proofs are from ancient ruins, and dungeons dug up by either curious archaeologists or enterprising adventurers. However, they are often confused and mixed in with ruins and records of much "newer" civilizations that had been built on top and thus their true nature and origin remains a mystery. One that confuses scholars to this day.

Spread

Rumors of the First Lands are incredibly rare. Only spoken by decrepit scholars nearing their deathbeds as a likely implausible theory. A convenient explanation for the creation of not just the world, but the entire universe as they knew it. Even those close to the truth would rather link it to events more feasible and had actually been recorded.   Yet, if one were willing to suspend belief, take another look into the artifacts tucked away in ancient tombs of eons past, and experience the magics of old, then they would surely realize how much this "obscure fairy tale," truly affected their world. And still does so to this day, for better or for worse.

Variations & Mutation

Though the tales of First Lands themselves were far and few between, strangely enough there are many tales with similar themes of a mythical land that was said to be a utopia, using the cities of old as their names.   In the central continent of Keoland, children of the kingdom are often told about the Lake of Avalon. A lake reserved only for the greatest kings to rest and learn from their predecessors.   Warriors of the north, live and die with pride knowing they overcame the harshest of obstacles have a seat reserved for them in the halls of Aesirheim.   Souls in the south must brave the River Eutamia, journeying on barge to reach the end where a utopia of reeds and the sun's warmth awaits.   Wise men and blade masters of the east strive to break free from the cycle of eternal rebirth, finally reaching Tenjia once they do.   Priests in the west hold the belief that living an honorable and virtuous life results in one's soul living amongst others in the heavenly city of Icarus. Yet those who fall to temptation shall be denied entrance, forced to live below the floating city.

Cultural Reception

If told, legends of such a land where the first mortal race resided would likely be met with a raised brow and not taken seriously. Yet in an ironic twist, the tales the current people of Magna Mare have are more deeply connected to  such an "implausible" theory and "obscure" fairy tale than they realize.

In Literature

As the First Lands were created in a time not many would remember, all records of literature and poetry were lost to the ages. Instead text directly referencing the First Lands over time, took many different cultural shapes. Books, poems, and bards' tales about a promised land that exemplify the ideals and fulfill the needs of the people, though what those are varies.

In Art

In a similar vain, depictions of this utopic land highlight what the majority of people believe is the "ideal realm" to live. Common themes include a just ruler, a divine and powerful creature sometimes at their side, joyous celebration, and plentiful food.
