Prison of Jarzul

The dwarfs deep explorations has lead to many incredible findings under the mountains, but also many incredibly dangerous findings. One of these lead to a minor underground war against a powerful demon called Jarzul.

Purpose / Function

The prison of Jarzul is deep below the city of the dwarfs, even getting to the prison entrance isn't an easy task. The location is secret, yet the path leading to the prison is rumoured to be connected to the main prison of the city. Ever since the demon was locked away many hundred years ago, the doors have not been opened even once. The demon is sealed with magic behind a heavy locked stone door which is also sealed with protective magic to keep Jarzul from breaking out. The prisons' only function is to keep Jarzul in and keep others from breaking him out, so it's more of a huge prison cell than an actual prison with many cells.

Architecture

The outer door of the prison is described to even be beautiful. Not only is it said the many carvings of the magical seal make it quite a masterpiece, also the ornate carvings on the door itself is something to be seen. Why the door had that much time and effort put into it if it's not even going to be seen by other than guards, no one actually knows. The door is told to be 25 by 25 feet, decorating such a large door with carvings seems very intuitive when the nature of the prison was to hide it.

History

The prison was constructed while the war against Jarzul was ongoing, it took only little more than half a year to finish the cell itself and the door took twice as long. The prison was completely finished before the short two year war ended with Jarzuls imprisonment and the slaying of his lieutenants. Year 514 Jarzul was sealed within his cell.
