Blood Orcs

Native to the most northeastern part of the world, the blood orcs are the most revered among orcs for their aggressive natur and strength in battle. Most of the blood orcs now battle on the front, pushing their territory south, southwest, and west.
The chieftain of the tribe is the leader, yet he can be challenged at any point for his title. The five most proficient warriors in the tribe are called blood champions, these can also at any point be challenged for their title. Often one of the blood champions becomes the new chieftain shortly after the death of the previous chieftain.

Coming of Age Rites

When the orcs of the blood tribe turn 8 years they are forced into gladiatorial combat with kin their own age. This is very brutal from an outsiders perspective, even other orc tribes sees this as being too violent. Once the elders are satisfied with the individual performance of each runt they go through a ceremoni to become of age and seen as a adult tribes member. If an orc isn't seen a worthy during these fights they will be seen as inferior to others in their tribe, and not allowed to procreate. This lack of strength results in them becoming hunters/gathers or even exiled, these orcs are called the unworthy.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Funerals of tribe members are not common, even more rarely celebrated. When a renowned warrior is slain, if he fell in glorious battle his body is brought back to the tribe. Here it is burned on a grand pyre and war stories are told among the tribe, as respect and encouragement. If the chieftain is slain his body is also brought back to the tribe, his blood is collected and heart cut out. The blood is then passed around in bowls and drunk by each tribe member, and the heart is eaten by the new chieftain. This is done to give the previous chieftains strength to the entire tribe, only the unworthy aren't allowed to take part.

Beauty Ideals

Warlike decorations of the body is seen as beauty and shows strength. Warpaint and tattoos are commonly used to tell stories of previous victories in battles. Scars from battles shows not only strength but the ability to survive and thus attracts female orcs, to a certain degree. Bone piercings often made from powerful foes is also seen as beauty, mostly used by the females of blood orcs.
