The Second War

The Second War was far bloodier and harder-fought than the first. It was during the peak of the Eacilian and Ayirian civilizations that the Breaker attacked. Marching down from the north, through Onarith, Eacil was the Breaker's first target. At the Battle of Naro, it took Eacil by surprise and led to the slaughter of most of the town. The Breaker continued south. By this time, Ayira and Denvar had been alerted to the Breaker's presence, and were sending reinforcements to aid Eacil. The Battle of Orithar was another defeat for Eacil, but this time the Breaker lost many more of his soldiers than what he had lost at Naro. Deciding against an assault against Tanivon, the Breaker instead split up his force- half, under his command, would go west to Denvar, and the other half, under the command of the Aiyevanin Nol Firoth, would go east. The Breaker's plan was to encircle Eacil and crush it in the middle.

The east of Eacil stood little chance against Firoth, and soon it was totally under the Breaker's control. Denvar, which had sent its armies to the mainland, was ill prepared for a fight, and although they put up a valiant resistance, they were defeated, and all of the men, women, and children of the island were slain. However, it was at this point that Nol Firoth grew arrogant and prideful, and after subduing the east of Eacil, he attacked Tanivon. For a hundred days and nights, the defenders of Tanivon, led by King Halir Swordshatter and the Aiyevanin Uther Laurino, fought bravely against the army of the dead, and on the hundred-and-first day, the armies of Ayira arrived, led by King Vic Daris, and broke the ranks of the dead.

Forced to retreat from his previous holdings, Nol Firoth began fortifying the east of Eacil, which now became known as Rothecil, and the armies of Men soon reclaimed the north of Eacil, finding it torched. The Breaker decided at this point to put his armies to sleep once again, and to wait until Men would once again be easy to conquer.

Hundreds of thousands had perished in the Second War, and by its end Eacil was no longer what it once was. Denvar had been completely destroyed, and the King of Denvar, Killi Yoren, who had come to the mainland to aid Eacil, was instead given the north of Eacil as his domain. Only Ayira, the easternmost nation, had escaped the Second War without being destroyed, but upon returning they immediately had to deal with another Yezic invasion, which they were barely able to repel. The West had almost been broken by the Second War, and it would take millenia for it to become what it once was again.
