The Eacilians

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

Honesty and courage are seen as highly honorable among Eacilian society.

Average technological level

Steel is relatively widespread amongst the common people, and a fairly connected road system has been installed, connecting Eacilians across the Western Plain.

Common Dress code

Eacilians dress using woolen and leather clothing, coming from sheep and cows. It is common for Eacilians to own both summer and winter outfits, as the summers are warm and the winters are cool on the Western Plain.

Art & Architecture

Eacilians build using wood and stone, with richer and more powerful people using marble in their construction, using mainly rectangular shapes.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

The Festival of Victory is a major holiday in Eacilian culture, denoting the victory against the Breaker during the First War. This holiday is usually celebrated with feasting, songs, dances, and games. The Fast of the Dead is a day honoring those who died defending humanity from the Breaker during the First and Second Wars. This holiday is marked as a solemn occasion, with those partaking usually fasting and praying to the Maker with the priests of the settlement.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

When a new baby is born, a priest will usually give the baby its Maker's name, with the family giving its own name to the baby.

Coming of Age Rites

On a man's 16th Name Day ceremony, he is allowed to wear the Crown of Manhood for the entire day, bestowed upon him by the settlement's priest. No such ceremony exists for women.

Funerary and Memorial customs

When a man dies, his wife often commits suicide on the same day (although this practice is becoming rarer). In the past, the dead were buried, however, since the Second War, many dead have been burned instead, with their ashes being burned.

Common Taboos

One must never name the Breaker. To do so would be to cast a curse upon anyone listening.

Ideals

Gender Ideals

Men are seen as the more physically and mentally gifted of the two sexes, and as such are expected to carry out administrative roles and labor. Women are expected to raise children and take care of households. However, when it comes to the Aiyevanin, women are seen as the stronger of the two sexes, and it is within the culture of the Aiyevanin that women see dominance over their male counterparts.
