The Carnival Comes to Town
Plot points/Scenes
This plot will occur at the end of phase 1 of the Eldritch Conspiracy. The players will have heard of this event coming for a while before this. The entire town is buzzing over the coming of the High Seas Carnival. This could be some much needed relief from the troubles and turmoils of everyday life. The carnival has sinister intentions though. Disguised as a traveling carnival company, the Blood Fiends have been traveling the coasts kidnapping people through the confusing environment of the circus. They have modified the Reflection Mansion (mirror house) to drug people in areas that they can extract them before anybody else comes by. They do this by a way of pressure plates that release a narcolepsy potion into the victims face. The victim is usually unaware of this because by the time they hit the trapped plates they have been sprayed by harmless water jets activated by the same or similar pressure plates. The attendant at the end of the house then will inform the rest of the persons party that they headed off without them for varying reasons. They will only take so many people as if too many are taken they have to high tail it out of there. If they are caught, the land agents will signal to the small fleet in harbor. The ships then will ready cannons at the city. They will arrange for safe passage under the threat of siege. The players will have varying evidence presented to them indicating that something is amiss. If they are goaded into entering the mirror house and split up, one of the members will be shanghaied. If the players uncover and stop the slavers, they will transition from simple adventurers to heroes in the eyes of the city and inhabitants therein. This will open up opportunities to tackle much greater threats then they have faced before.
