Wyrms' Furnace

In the southern part of the moziman  continent, one of the tallest volcanoes in all of Lyssaria rises. The Wyrms' Furnace is surrounded by history and legends, its sheer size and the tales about it has made it one of the most amazing natural wonders of Lyssaria.

Description

The Wyrms' Furnace is a tall peak made of black stone at the end of a chain of mountains in the Mozima continent. This peak takes a form similar to a lot of extremely tall vertical pipes made of volcanic rock, each one exposing great quantities of smoke. These rock formations seem to have veins, due to lava ducts circulating through them, making the Furnace look shiny and mysterious all day and night.

History

The legends tell that the Wyrms' Furnace has always been in Lyssaria, at least as long as the sapient races that inhabit the world, but in the Age of Legends, this group of volcanos was called the Great Bonfire by the tribes around it. Many tales were already told about the treasures you could find closed to and inside it. Some talked about gold and diamonds, others talk about powerful crystalline rocks that could cut anything but others talked about the beasts that resided here.
Some legends say that the first dwarf blacksmith learned the secrets of the forge after expending a year of their life inside the volcano. When they returned to their tribe, he brought a plethora of magical weapons with them. Many historians say that if this legend is true, these weapons are now lost to time, but some dwarf lords claim their weapons are those of the first blacksmith. After the first blacksmith told their tribe about what he learned, a group of dwarves decided to establish there.
The first major historical event where the Wyrms' Furnace is part of happened during the Diomilitia. When the Domination, a group of evil invading gods, realized that their armies would not be enough to beat the Lyssarian Alliance, they used the fires of the Bonfire and the volcanic rock in there to create the first generation of dragons. These dragons, black as the stone of the volcano and with guts filled with lava, established nests inside the now renamed Wyrms' Furnace, where they continued to artificially create other dragons, using some of the machines the dwarves living there created, but displacing the poor dwarves if not killing them.
The area around the Furnace deteriorated more and more after the dragons made their home there, killing most of the natural life in the zone. One of the last battles of the Diomilitia was fought there, surrounding all entrances in the ground and blocking most of the craters of the volcano, leading the dragons trying to escape into a trap. Realizing that they were losing, the king of the dragons used his power to make the volcanoes erupt, killing a lot of forces on both sides of the battle, leaving the Furnace practically useless, now only a mountain filled with lava.

In the Present

Some movements inside dwarven communities have started to organize wanting to reclaim the Wyrms' Furnance for them, seeing the place as theirs by right. There are some people who believe red dragons have returned to the Furnance, but none are brave enough to come closer and find out.
