Vivhaya

The vivhaya plant is an exotic resource that grows only in the Stone Labyrinth of the Rami Desert and is highly looked for because of the multiple uses, it has as medicine, drugs or even as a magic enhancer. The plant is very difficult to obtain given the zone it grows, you would have to face the danger of the desert and then face the elven tribes that protect them.
Dune Elves are the main traders of the plant and put great value into it, protecting the underground deposits where it grows, to then cultivate it and sell it during the annual migrations they do religiously. The vivhaya can be sold whole or grounded into dust. There are some black market traders who get the plant in non ethic ways invading the dune elve territory or attacking elven migratory groups.
When not selling it, the dune elves use the root of the vivhaya to create medicinal teas that give a lot of nutrients and energy, thus being reserved only for those who really need it. Some of the effects you can get are really similar to some healing magic. Along with that, some priest of the Cult of the Dust Mother inhales the grounded root of the vivhaya to create a mystical connection with their goddess, giving them visions and also amplifying their magical abilities.
This same effect is looked for people in the vicinity of the Labyrinth, paying high prices to get some of the plants. Many princes and merchants have risen in power just for having a great quantity of it and using it to gain followers healing sick people, showing great magic powers or even terrorizing them with the enhanced magical abilities.
What most people outside the Rami Desert don't know is that black market merchants have discovered the use of the root as a powerful drug, causing many people in the Rami Desert to become addicts. The main problem with this situation is the rise in numbers of groups willing to attack elven travellers, making the voyage even more dangerous for them.
