Tal Si Shan

Tal Si Shan ("Crown of Shan" in the old shanite language) was the capital and most important city of the Shani Empire. This massive city hosted the gigantic palaces of the ruling class, hundreds of thousands of residencies for the middle and poor classes, and endless hectares of crop fields to sustain the city population all within various layers of tall and sturdy stone walls.
Tal Si Shan was the most important city during the Age of Legends, influencing cities across the whole known world. Inside it, nobility, demigods, magical creatures and mundane people alike lived, enjoying the culture and security the Shani Empire offered.

History

Tal Si Shan was originally a military outpost used by the Lyssarian Alliance during the Diomilitia. The bay the outpost was located in protected the navy of the Alliance and offered protection due to the geography of the zone. After the war, Shan, a general of the Alliance decided to stay in the outpost and found a city that was named "Melok Port". Shan's charisma made a lot of people move to the city, which grew at an amazing pace.
The city grew more and more with each generation, and using a combination of engineering and magic, the leaders of the now renamed Tal Si Shan changed the whole layout of the city and its surroundings, using the nearby river as a source of water for 3 rings of water that now surrounded the city and divided into the 3 known zones of the metropolis.
Tal Si Shan would grow more and more, and the might of the Empire would not stop, conquering a lot of the world. Technology and magic far beyond our comprehension was something ordinary in the capital. This would only be further demonstrated by the technology that the wizards of the city achieved, putting The Cerulean Citadel in the sky. This achievement was celebrated across the whole empire, and more imperial cities would be able to fly over the span of a couple years.
The might of Tal Si Shan would reach their end after the nobility of the empire would try to oppose the Shantic Gods. The deities would use all their power fueled by rage to destroy Tal Si Shan and many other imperial cities, bringing them down from the sky. This cataclysm would also affect the lands around the capital turning the once green and prosperous fields of the peninsula into the deadly wasteland know as the Red Death. Tal Si Shan fell and with it, the might of the Shani Empire.
Today only ruins of the city can be found by those brave enough to enter the heart of the Red Death, many secrets still lay buried under the crimson sands, but we still don't know if this secret should be discovered.

Geography

Tal Si Shan was located beside a bay, giving them access to the Shantic Ocean. The city itself consisted of 3 rings of water that divided the land into four spaces, one conected to the peninsula, 2 rings of land and one circle of land in the center of all rings.
  • In the center of the city, The Cerulean Citadel hosted the large palaces of the most important people of the Shani Empire: Royalty, nobility, military commanders and rich merchants. This zone also had all the important administrative buildings where all the decisions for the Empire would be taken.
  • The First Ring: This ring had most businesses in the metropolis, but also a lot of recreative zones of the inhabitants of the city.
  • The Second Ring: This ring had the crops used to feed the city population.
  • The Outer Plains: Outside the walls of the city (beyond the biggest water ring), this is where people not allowed in the city established themselves. Many military outposts were in this zone to watch over any threat to Tal Si Shan.
Only remains of this layout can be seen nowadays after the cataclysm caused when the city faced the Asantic gods.
