Protenia, also know as the City of Forges, is a large and highly advanced city-state north of the Sea of Gold. Protenia views itself as the future of Aspelia thanks to its might, not military, but technological and magical. The trade coming from all over Aspelia on land and all over the world by the sea only makes Protenia richer. If it's magical inventions what you're looking for, this is the city where you'll find them. The motto of the city is "The pillars of the past, growing into the future".
When the society of artificers known as the Arcane Workshop Fellowship entered Protenia, it founded a new district in the city where a lot of workshops for magicians and artificers to work on. The king of Protenia made a deal with the leaders of the Fellowship, giving them resources for their investigations, an alliance that quickly gave very positive results, making Protenia advance technologically more than any city in the continent.
Protenia is now recognized for their beautiful streets and tower, their developed districts and their top notch inventions, specially their nimintite cannons that are carried aboard ships from all over the world.
History
Protenia was established after the Diomilitia as an independent fishing outpost by humans, but the town would grow into a city after finding mines full of iron, bronze, and most importantly nimintite.When the society of artificers known as the Arcane Workshop Fellowship entered Protenia, it founded a new district in the city where a lot of workshops for magicians and artificers to work on. Protenia is divided in 5 districts that have appeared over the history of the city along with a small island in front of the coast:Platinum Ward
This is where the nobility and rich people of the city built their splendorous mansions and palaces. This is where the Protenian Court House is located, making this place the origin of all decisions who affect the city and the region.The Candles
Officially named Knowledge Ward, it obtains its other names from the high towers with nimintite flames burning all day and night shimmering with blue light. In The Candles you can find the most important colleges of the city, along with the biggest arcane workshops for artificers and wizards.Westward
The second oldest district in the city. This place is like a small city within the city for people of middle class, working both as a trade and housing district. Many small parks and plazas can also be found here.Bronzeport
This is the oldest district of the city and where the original town of Protenia was founded. The present version of the port has grown immensely to be able to receive a great number of enormous ships from all over the world.Plaster Field
Also known as Eastward, this ever-growing district houses a lot of the population of the city, almost all of them poor. Most immigrants end up living here with the hopes of someday find a better life in the City of Forges. It gets its name for the way houses are built here: In the rest of the city stone and wood will be used, but here most can only afford plaster or similar materials.The Pebble
This island on the coast of Protenia is now used as a jail, but previously was used as a fort by revolutionaries.Culture
Protenians consider themselves as the most advanced people in Lyssaria, so they try to show this with the way they go day by day. Protenian give the world an image of culture and riches, but try to hide the treatment they give to certain part of their population.Language
Protenia official language is the Gold Tongue, speech used by traders all over the world, but Gnomish and Dwarvish are also recognized.Architecture
Ever since the establishing of the Arcane Workshop Fellowship the city started to build districts with an emphasis on efficiency thus building squared blocks and straight streets mostly. The usual three stored buildings of the city, then to be adorned with bronze figures to highlight the wealth of the owners. This rule is broken when one goes to the Bronzeport or the Plaster Field, due to how old or poor buildings are in those zones.Clothing
The richest people in the city tend to use baggy and flowing clothing with bronze or nimintite adornments, with the exception of mages and artificers who opt for more functional garments.Money
Protenia has its own coins in the form of a square and the symbol of the city printed on them, but they accept money from other parts of the world with some exceptions.Technology

Even if the protenian government says that freedom of belief is present in the city, some religious practices, especially the lest seen around the area of the Aspelia continent. Many people pray to Artiresi, god of inventions, for the blessing he has given to the city in the form of technology and riches, but some other cults have started to appear causing some minor clashes.Festivals
Sport festivals are really popular among the common folk in Protenia, but almost all (who can afford the ticket) enjoy the bi-annual magic fair that the city council organizes with the universities of the city.Goverment

Protenia is ruled by an Hereditary Monarchy, passing the title of king to the eldest male children of the king. The city-state is also supervised by a council of oligarchs who help the king take decisions and ensure this decision is applied.Organizations
