Eldurfell: A town of More Than Metal - By Luna Sverovarg

Introduction

Eldurfell means fire mountain in one of the many tongues spoken by the Gaian people. The Derverg, who are its primary residents, are said to be a more recent off shoot of the elven people. Their oldest and largest city is Eldurfell which shows imagery of elves who first found the mountain and settled there. Eldurfell is beneath a large dormant and perhaps even dead volcano in the Aldranari Volcanic Range. It is the capital city of Nidavesh.

Demographics

Of the celestials none dwell in Nidavesh. The djinn who do not share genetic origin with the divines of Lysandus (we are an entirely different species) only I made home in Eldurfell as of last census. The majority of Eldurfell's population is the derverg. Some Gaian's who came during the dragon war still live here.

Government

As the capital of Nidavesh the dwelling of the government seat is also in Nidavesh. Unlike other societies in Lysandus Nidavesh is a republic. The senate of Artisans, made up of the heads of each crafting guild, votes on and run the day to day affairs of the country. Each city is assigned a mayor who answers to the senate. These mayors are elected by the senate every age which is 10 Gaian years.

Industry & Trade

Many of the Derverg are miners. Eldurfell boasts the largest sulfur mine in Nidavesh. On the other side of the city deeper into the pits are gemstone mines. They also mine Gabbro for building material as well as Granite when they find it.

Infrastructure

Eldurfell is known for the mines on the cities borders. The sulfur mines just outside the city are why Gori wanted Fort Torpeke here. He used sulfur fog machines to "boost soldiers morale". The city has paved roads and massive light in the center that mimics the outdoor light.
