Katokai

Katokai is the greatest city of Seigashi and also the oldest one. It was built in a large natural harbour located in the far west of the province, were a few islands are connected to each others with bridges. Some parts of the city, notably to the Western Side, seems to float on water, built on a pile type foundation.   The construction of the city was launched after the World’s Breach ended, the bay being created after the last cataclysm which put an end to the war, were Kumiho defeated Tamamo.   It’s home for the Emperor Kisuke Ryukishin and the Seigashi Council.

Demographics

While the emperor is of Elven origin, the population itself is multi-ethnic. The goal of the city was to honor the alliance of all kind of people coming together to defeat their common enemy, and since the capital was built right after the war, the large spectrum of origin and culture was conserved through the process.

Defences

Because the capital was built in a natural harbour, it’s encased between the sea and the mountain, provinding a natural defense system.   To the East, the only way to get in or out of the city by land, walls were carved out of the two mountains ranges were they meet. It’s a multi-layered wall system, with multiple earthwork structures. Stables, warehouses and inns for passing travelers or traders are built agains the walls, thickening them even more and provinding really good defenses.   The West is only ocean and the ligthhouses provide enough visibility to see potential threats coming by sea while the North and the South are just mountains with other earthwork structures to gain space and building at different hights.   Everything provides solid defenses but also have the downside of isolating the city in some way which is why there is always some scouts in the mountains.

Infrastructure

The city is organized in Districts, each one with a specific purpose or activity.   The Piers District, West fo the city, is separated in two. Pier #1 in the North being an entry point for people by sea and Pier #2 in the South is the center of exports and imports. Near Pier #2, their is an entire District for trade, known as the Kogane Dori, where wares from all over the continent are available for purchase or sell. It’s also the place of the Gojuban Dori District, which organise the warehouses and the crafting activities of the capital.   In the Northern part of the Bay, there is the living Districts, Shiroku and Kuroku. They are carved inside the feet of the Rakuza Mountains at sea level and are the affordable and popular livings quarters. Their is individual houses but also a large residential building in each of them. The access are either by sea shuttle or by land. It's also here that one can find the passage to Minamo District, were the religious center of the capital is located.   The Southern part of the Bay however is home for the Yamata District were the Yamata Academy can be found as well as the Noble Houses Manors.   And finally, in the largest island in the center of the Bay, is the Kinrisui, the Imperial Palace. It is by far the largest building of the capital, and the more extravagant. It is built on a huge stone pillar ascending from the center of the island, and is linked to the Northern and Southern mountains by huge bridges passing over the water of the Bay. It facilitates the travel between Districts, and the palace itself is home to not only the Emperor but also a large number of people of all origin, individuals apartments being built inside the walls of the palace itself as well as indoors gardens. It could be described as a city inside a city.

Assets

Akihara's Blazing Flames : It's a unique blacksmith workshop that can forge magical weapons without the help of any mages. It is said that the fires of the furnaces are a relic of the World's Breach, and that the Akihara clan who now has access to it can forge the best weapons in the province out of standart metals. The current clan owner and crafter is Tsubaki Akihara.   Boseiju Square : The Boseiju is a very tall and large tree of unknown origin that manage to survive the cataclysm that put an end to the war eons ago. After the clouds of dust and rocks were blown away, the only living thing in the area was this tree who somehow was spared from the blast. The people who then built the city ensured that this tree would be left alone no matter what and built a huge square around it. To this day, this tree is still being taking care of, and people have installed tea houses and bench around it.

Guilds and Factions

Minamo, Temple at Water's Edge : Main religious organisation in the province but not the center of the religion in the continent.   Yamata Academy : Basically a "Mages Guild", but with a political purpose as it's the center of all things arcane in nature in the continent. Nothing official can happen in the arcane domain without the say so of the Academy and it's Order of Masters.   Shinsengumi : It's a martial organisation of warriors that swore obedience to the emperor. They are the wardens of peace inside the city and act as the guards.

Architecture

The style of building is heavily inspired of the Japanese and Chinese traditional housing, but even more extravagant. The color are red, blues, gold and dark greens, but their is multiple levels carved into the mountains themselves, which are light grey stones, where buildings are constructed. The ostentatious outsides are contrasted by the simpler insides, which are usually made of dark wood for the walls, and tatami mats on the floor

Hey Ren! I got a few tips for you:
1. Try to utilize the sidebar. Especially if you have chapters where you only write one word, try using the key-value-pair-syntax in the sidebar. 2. Link your other articles. Especially in the Government part, you just gave the name of the government and I would have liked to see what kind of government that is. You can link other articles using @ and the auto-completion. 3. Use images. Especially a cover image, which would then also appear in the overview of your challenge-articles. Most often, you can find a fitting one on a free-to-use-stock-photos website, or you can make one that has the fitting mood with a few strokes in paint or GIMP (or Photoshop, but that's not free).
