Bone Bottom Lake

This place is mainly known for two things, death and Spirit Algea. This massive lake houses a bunch of spirits that haunt this place. Why the spirits are there is unclear, but there are a few theories/legends/rumors about why. People rarely ever enter this place. Even expert mercernaries usually stay away from this creepy area. From the accounts we have collected, it seems that the lake is devoid of life save for the Spirit Algea. Apparently the lake is absolutely calm as well. There doesn't seem to be any kind of wind and barely any sunlight that actually enter there.

Localized Phenomena

Chunks of Spirit Algea are floating underwater, though never actually touching the surface of it. If one goes near the lake, they usually start to see spirits wondering towards them. Some reports have stated that creatures can get close to it sometimes. The algea itself usually glows in a pale blue, so once underwater they are fairly easy to spot. The area itself is constantly surrounded by dense fog, and once inside there doesn't seem to be much sunlight that makes it through to area.

History

Only legends remain of this, but there apparently used to be a small town/tiny city near or above the lake. Whether it was floating or hovering is unclear, but people seem to think that hovering above a whole giant lake seems unlikely. Either way nothing seems to remain from the town at all, which makes the theory/legend a little difficult to believe. Another likely theory is that this used to be a graveyard for the ancient people of Chauria or Insia as both of these cities' old texts mention this lake, but never once is it mentioned it might be a graveyard. As a result it's rather unclear if this theory holds up as well. There are traces of a beaten yet rough path that lead to this place, but this tells us very little to confirm either theory.
