Kobold

The kobold is a cave and dungeon dweller that generally tend to worship dragons of any kind. These pitiful small creatures travel in large packs and try not to engage an enemy head on in combat but rather use the terrain and pack tactics to their advantage. The kobold is a dexterous little creature and loves to use the shadows and darkness to its advantage while lurking for prey or foes. Cowardly as they are, the kobold will still find the courage to bring tidy offerings to the dragon that it worships. The kobold live in larger societies due to the fact that they are a smaller creature and usually not strong enough to be on their own or in small bands. The kobold is also very skilled in making traps of all different kinds.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Kobolds have the average morphology of draconic humanoids. They have small horns adorning their face and head and coloured scales running across the vast majority of their body. They have two arms and legs and a head. They have the basic humanoid organs.

Genetics and Reproduction

Kobolds reproduce through mundane sexual activity. Males impregnate females, which then gestate live young for about 3 standard months (130 to 140 days). Typically, 3 to 5 live young are born simultaneously. Rare cases include up to 15 children and as few as 1 child.

Growth Rate & Stages

Kobolds mature by age 10 and die before reaching the age of 35. Despite this quick maturation, most Kobolds look relatively young until their late 20s.

Ecology and Habitats

The optimal environment is a tropical climate with rocky, shady terrain. Kobolds perform the most efficiently in the dark.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Kobolds are omnivores, but their ancestors were carnivores. While Kobolds can eat fruits and vegetables, they still process meat the easiest.

Biological Cycle

Kobolds molt about once or twice a year, either on its birthday or halfway between birthdays. Sustaining serious injury or skin trauma can trigger an early molting.
