Introduction to Deities
The Deities are powerful entities born within the Aether. They are beings of pure echo and occupy different areas of the Aether whether by choice, or by force.Worship
Through the worship of the creatures of Luxilice, the deities are capable of exerting their will over the world in meaningful ways. They guide their followers, granting them powers and abilities, some deities seek to aid the people of Luxilice for it is a neutral realm between all of existence or just to help those they see fit, other deities seek to control, dominate, or destroy the world. Whatever the domain, plan, or purpose, deities are either worshipped or feared, sometimes both. Most deities take in their follower's souls once they pass, granting them access to their realms should they accept. Whilst these souls wait out the eventual echo cycle as dictated by the Causaltis, some, either at their own request or chosen by the deity whose realm they inhabit, ascend to become servants of their deity. These individuals become what are known as Celestials and come in a variety of types dictated by their deities. Their will is granted new anima to inhabit, a fraction of the deities own power, and their old anima returns to the echo cycle, to once more live within Luxilice now with a new will.Pantheons
Deities sometimes form what are known as Pantheons or Constellations. These are networks of realms tied together and unified amongst allied deities, usually by their own will, but sometimes dictated by the worship of mortals, forming groups based on prominent religions worshipped upon Luxilice.Manifestations
Deities can manifest themselves on Luxilice in numerous ways, depending on how they wish to exert themselves. Some manifest in dreams and omens, guiding their followers in subtle ways, some desire to walk upon Luxilice on their own two feet, crafting temporary mortal forms for themselves. These mortal forms come in three types: minor, major, and absolute. Minor manifestations occur when the deity is given access to a mortal being's body for a short amount of time. This is usually performed by the clerics and worshippers of the deity, granting them a mortal form to perform tasks or confer with their followers through possession. Major manifestations occur when a deity crafts a body of their own. These contain but a fraction of their power, usually on par with that of their celestial servants. Finally, absolute manifestations are extraordinarily rare and have only occurred twice in the history of Luxilice, though the details about such manifestations are scarce. An absolute manifestation is when a deity manifests their true form upon the world and in doing so, absorb a large amount of echo in the process, leaving the regions in which they were manifested scarred for centuries.Types of Deities
Gods
Gods are the most common form of deity located within the Aether. They typically have a realm of their own which they claim absolute power over, however some gods, usually lesser deities but sometimes not, have been known to take residence within another god's realm, especially if they have close relations with one another, such as family, close allies and friends, and lovers. Gods have the ability to navigate and move their realms within the Aether with ease, and as such, closely related gods might tend to move their realms close together in networks known as Pantheons or Constellations.Archdevils
Some deities, through a variety of reasons, become what are known as archdevils. These deities have their realms tied to the constellation of the Hells by the powers of the Causaltis. Their servants are the devils and whatever the reason for their fall, they are usually considered rogue players amongst their fellow deities. They act independently of one another, in most cases they despise each other, however there they remain as punishment for their actions, whatever they may be. By the law of the Causaltis, they are sealed within the Hells, although, they still have the ability to send out their servants to other realms and to cause manifestations of their power upon Luxilice in the forms of omens, dreams, and abilities and powers bestowed upon their worshippers. Some archdevils, after a long enough time has passed, are able to once more free themselves, becoming gods as once were before.Abyssals
The Abyss, also known as the Maw and the Maelstrom, is a roaring tide of echo located within the Aether. The deities and wills within the Abyss find it almost inescapable and it acts as a prison for all that break the laws of the Causaltis. The servants of these deities are known as the demons, sometimes they are wills twisted by the Abyss, others are servants to the dark gods that inhabit the Abyss, and others still are born of the Abyss itself. Little is known about what lies within, however these dark gods do have their worshippers. Whispers in the dark and powers derived from corrupted magic falling into the hands of mortals who don't know any better... twisting them... controlling them.Remove these ads.
