Niklokan: First Men

Being born from the vats of the Underlab, the first human looked like a less refined version of themselves. This made many of the alchemists working in the laboratory uncomfortable until they realized this muddied being was nothing more than a mixture of the other chattel.

All Niklokans can trace their blood back to Niklokans who was the first Human in some form or fashion and they tend to vary wildly in appearence due to their higher ammounts of what could be "purer human" blood but this just means that the traits they inherited from other races such as Height and Build with the occasional other things such as low-light vision and magical resistance but these types of attributes are rare.

Major language groups and dialects

Most speak the Original Tounge (sometimes called the Language of Slaves by Unseelie Elves) which is a mix of Traditional Oriculum and Sylvan

Culture and cultural heritage

Most of their culture is designed from the remnants of the Oriculum Empire and still bears some influence from their former Unseelie Fey masters.

Shared customary codes and values

Bravery in the Face of Insurmountable Odds is expected such as Nikandrios showed when fighting the Unseelie Archfeyans. Getting back at someone tenfold is also usual such as when Nikandrios slew not only the Unseelie Archfeyans but also the other members of their court.

Common Etiquette rules

Mutual respect is common and great respect for other races such as orcs and the halfkin is expected due to their relation.

Common Dress code

Earthtones are common and common attire for men is a leather sleeveless jerkin with earth tone pants and linen shirt with a lightweight iron chainmail shirt. For women, a simple earth tone dress with braided hair is usual with iron links as adornments in their hair.

Nobility typically wear similar earth tones but with more silver and gold adornments such as jewley and colored shirts and lightwieght ornamental chainmail made from silver and gold, fashioned after what Nikandrios recieved from Bahamut is common.

Art & Architecture

Arts such as painting is usually not well respected although things such as sculptures and practical architecture are seen as having their uses.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Marriages involve a man giving their wife half of everything they own and a woman giving half as well and in the event of a divorce then they are returned what they have given.

Nikotanians keep iron on them at all times to ward off Fey beings and they dont say their children's name outloud for the first 3 years to keep them from being stolen.

Coming of Age Rites

Every man is expected to craft their own set of iron chainmail and perform a heroic deed.

Women are expected to craft a small iron dagger and learn cibusmaking

Common Taboos

Allowing an Unseelie Elf to be in charge of you in some way is considered an extreme taboo since it is seen as disregarding the gift of Liberation that Nikandrios bestowed upon humanity.

Historical figures

Nikandrios the God-Hero who freed the Humans and other races from the Unseelie Regime.

Regtar the Second King, The Deserter who led many Humans and orcs and any other race that would follow him across the Never Sleeping Sea to Wexum.

Orgiba the Sorceress who took those seeking to rebuild the Oriculum Empire and created the Wild Circut

Janais the Third and Oft-Forgotten who created many of the governmental rules that govern Nilsof which is their ancestral homeland.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Good personal hygiene (by pseudo-medieval standards at any rate) and effort put into physical appearance are all that really required of women although this can sometimes be taken to extremes since women with money are expected to do more since they can.

Gender Ideals

Men and women have separate expected roles with men being expected to fight in place of women in disputes and what not. Women are seen in more of a supporting role to men while men are expected to be mildly ambitious. Men tend to have higher social status because they are encouraged to strive for more. Men and women are at a baseline treated as equals with the main distinctions coming from the influence they attain.

Courtship Ideals

One party is expected to initiate the courting with the other not being allowed to express interest until eventually they are asked for their hand in marriage. What the asked party responds is the answer and from that point, affection is shown both ways if the response is positive. In the event of a negative response then they are expected to move on and try again with someone else.

Relationship Ideals

Women are expected to support men in all their endeavors while men are expected to do everything in their power to make women's lives easier.
