Jagrhate

"Before the vacuum, hearing the haunting drone of the Jagrhate from over the crest of a hill was a cause for concern. It meant that some other Clan is coming with ill intent. Nowadays, it's mainly used as a means of connecting with ancient Toreni culture."
-Anonymous Anthropologist

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Jagrhate (Translation: War Violin) is a string instrument which produces a sound similar to that of the Morin Khuur. It produces sound like most other string and bow instruments and amplifies it through an acoustic chamber in the body of the instrument. Larger versions of the instrument, called Anklö Jagrhate, are more common and produce a deeper drone. Uniquely, the sound created by the Jagrhate has a tendency to be carried on the wind, making it audible for miles around.

Manufacturing process

Generally, the body of the instrument is created first. Most models are made of wood, though the cheaper ones tend to be plastic or cheap plywood. Materials with decent resonance can also be used, though changing the material of the body affects the sound greatly.   Next, the brackets, frets, and tuning knobs are machined from the chosen material, be it metal, ivory, plastic, or wood. They are then attached to the body and secured. This is also when any body detailing is done such as decals, coloring, accents, and protective leather rests.   Finally, the instrument is strung with the chosen string be it nylon, plant fiber, animal fiber, or hardlight cable.
