Session 15: Moonshadow Crossroads Report

General Summary

Our heroes took a much needed rest following the battle with Paraltak the Insatiable, and mulled over the loss of Al. As they concocted ways down the hole made by the cave dragon, mostly using mounts but some using climbing and other means, the party left behind the Second dungeon level, the Moonshadow Depths, and came upon the Moondepth Crossroads, the third floor. At the bottom, the discovered the grizzly remains of Al and their vanquished foe, and Ayatani Zweil had a unique idea, with Oliver helping with hopes of saving Al's soul. Meanwhile, Axios, with the help of Moonrok, their new Kobold companion, harvested a partial skull of the cave dragon, and it's breath sac. Ayatani and Oliver found a crystal holding the soul of a confused Al, and enough of Al to stitch him back together, supplementing certain parts of his body for dragon bits. After hours of work and crafting, they group crafted a flesh golem conduit for Al to reside within: A cave dragon flesh golem, and he took the breath Sac from Axios to use the fearsome dragons' breath attack. Following this, Ayatani used his Arcane senses to detect the path bearing the least risidual magic, which led them into a den of mimics. These mimics took many shapes: doors, tables, chests, carpets, bigger chests, walls, and one large mimic stood at the cavern at the very end. Once the party uncovered the ruse and disturbed the horde, they worked their way forward through the monstrosities, vanquishing all of the shapeshifting monsters, and killing the broodmother. At the end of it all, they uncovered a friendly, baby mimic, and a mimic in a bottle for them to use. The room is cleared, however, the ethereal gate with 6 slots still stands at the crossroads center, and the party still needs the piece of the door to proceed forward from this location. Not only that, what awaits behind the next door they choose to venture within?
