Eclipson

Eclipson is the former royal capital of Lunarmyre, a sprawling city of over 100,000 constituents surrounded by towering circular walls that have stood for centuries. At its heart lies the Temple of the Lunar Goddess, a grandiose and awe-inspiring structure that beams with a pearlescent radiance under moonlight, casting an etheral glow over the city. Next to the temple is the Mayor’s Mansion, a grand estate where Archbishop Artus Aster- both Mayor and leader of the church- resides with his family. The city is deeply rooted in faith, though corruption runs beneath its surface. The Archbishop and his family wield control over both church and state, with Artus’s wife ruling over the infamous Red-Light district, ensuring the family’s grip over every facet of life in Eclipson. Eclipson is a city of stark contrasts. The old district, with its weathered stone streets and crumbling architecture, holds much history about Lunarmyre’s history. The Red-Light district bustles with forbidden pleasures and a thriving black market. Meanwhile, the Modern Districts are hubs of commerce, entertainment, and daily life. Festivals, parades, and ceremonies regularly fill the streets with a vibrant energy, and The Goddess’ gifts are worshiped even in the darkest corners and crevices of society.

Government

Artus Aster of the noble Aster family oversees this city as Mayor, and Overseer of the Church of the Lunar Goddess. Thus, church and state are fused here. Therefore, the highest members of the court of the Aster Family are church officials. Using his power over the city, the church, and controlling the red light district with loose laws and secret dealings plants his influence all over the city. Ranking members within the church also have jurisdiction within the city except for the red light district, and the guards rank just below those of the church. The city guards and staff of the church all serve under the Aster Family, and they have few overt outside of disruptive or overtly criminal acts. Talking out against the family or the church is a capital offense, as well as any acivities that are noramlly allow in the red light district that are taken outside of the allowable zone. Sentences are swiftly carried out by the church, and they are taken in the temple for execution and never seen again. All legilation and judicial acts take place within the temple, and the public is not privvy to the inner workings of the system. Those who do ask too many questions may suffer similar fates, thus following the guidlines and not poking one's nose too deep is the best strategy.

Defences

Defensive Forces- This holy city, once the royal capital, is home to a host of holy combatants, magical wards, state of the art equipment, and is surrounded by large walls and overshadowed by a massive mountain range. Solar Knights: A small force of Solar Knights remain in Eclipson to ensure royal authority is maintained, though the city leans more heavily on its religious defenses. Holy Warriors: The Church of the Lunar goddess has its own warriors who serve as both spiritual leaders and defenders. They are proficient in divine magic, forming a powerful defense around the city. Massive Walls: The city’s architecture revolves around high, heavily fortified walls that encircle the city, designed to repel both physical assaults and magical intrusions. Defensive Wards: Thanks to the church, the city is protected by powerful lunar wards, preventing dark magic and monsters from infiltrating. Geographic Advantage. Perched on a high plateau, the city is overshadowed by a large mountain that makes it difficult to approach without being seen, making siege tactics difficult.

Industry & Trade

The Dayfall mountain range behind Eclipson is a valuable resource for magical ores that are often used for creating armor and weapons, as well as rigid materials that are stronger than standard steel or iron, like solar iron or lunar steel. Being the former royal capital, the city has all manners of business, and exports and imports anything from legal to not so much. Common supplies and businesses are abundant, though many magical shops moved to the royal capitals at the behest of the kings. Thus, not many rare or esoteric goods are found, unless one ventures to the darker districts, or has the right connections.

Infrastructure

Eclipson has several disticts in its expanse, encompassing the strong faith of the church and the ever changing nature of Lunarmyre. The temple, the districts, the commerce and the presence of the church all make it its infrastructure.

Guilds and Factions

The Church of the Lunar Goddess, and the Royal Aster Family are the prominent forces here, ruled over by the same authority figure, Artus Aster.

History

The city was founded alongside Mooreview and Dawndale in the early years of the founding of the country of Lunarmyre. Steeped deeply in the worship of the Goddess, this once former royal capital has undergone the most change in Lunarmyre. Its old districts show the once archaic architecture in Lunarmyre, and the train system, steam vessels, smokeless powder inventions, magical and scientific advances and cultural influences from the outside world have transformed the city from the appearance it once bore. However, the church has always held its place as the primary influence of the city. Festivals and ceremonies constantly clebrate the goddess' gifts, and the fortified city has been a point of migration for many seeking refuge within the island.
