Dagon
Dagon
Description
Dagon is a god of fertility and renewal, but also war. He lusts after Derketo, and in some city-states of Shem is regarded as her primary mate. He likes to see the trophies of his victories piled before him, especially the heads of his enemies.Rituals and Beliefs
Like most of the Shemite gods, he demands his worshippers approach him in the nude. They abstain from eating fish but abstain from little else. Their rites and ceremonies are orgiastic and self-indulgent. Dagon is said to favour those who bring him the heads of their enemies.Priesthood
Priests of Dagon can be warriors and of noble birth. The Shemite King of Dan-Marcah, a coastal city of Pelishtia, is a priest of Dagon. Temple of Dagon also has a lot of influence in the city of Nedrezzar in western Shem. Some ceremonies re-enact the mating of Dagon and Derketo.Dagon
