Upon a continent of threefold names, three cultures belonging to three species must make a new dawn together one century after their most violent encounter. The nations they live in have drastically different ideals (of dreams, of actualization, of control). One has lived in bliss, being cradled by the belief of their dreaming god. Another species finds itself at the epicenter of conflict over and over again. And the last has known little but slaughter and the taste of conquest. All see their modern world as civilized now, but scars never silence: they only hush their tones.   In the southeast reside the chimeras. They call their nation the Slumbering Home from the belief that it is a manifested dream of their creator god who uses holy pronouns specific to Cem. It is said that they too are dreams manifested, and that each is born of a vivid shade of their god's, Ouseltomex's, mind. From this, deep spiritual and emotional meanings are formed. All of the present world is outside of Cir dreams, but remnants are formed in the vivid hues of the Home's skies, land, and people: the chimeras. Gender is ever fluid and undefinable to chimeras; "male" and "female" do not exist in their culture, only that of soul-searching for one's own meaning and pronouns. Dreams pose great significance to chimeric society, and the honing of one's mind and soul are considered the greatest of achievements. As though blessed, it was the chimeras who became holders to a miraculous technological lifeblood -- the unending power source known as somnafluid. It was this liquid that created modern society for chimeras, and it was ambition for it that lead to bloodshed.   To northern lands of Nukhet, where the sands dance in scorching breezes, are the reptilian moets. All moets are female in their gender, seeking all in their society as either sisters, mothers, or wives. As though belief has been seared by the mighty star, none of Nukhet believe in gods. Instead, a cultural philosophy persists that encourages individuals to make purpose and truth from what can be observed with the senses. They are the sculptors of the raw clay, fortunate to have the resources of ore to create their technology. Whispers of gods and dreams fade, but inventions do not. To make a mark, one must create or work herself into a creation worthy of preservation. Unfortunately, these marvels of metal and science have landed them in the auspices of the western nation...   Macheir. A fourfold kingdom ruled by giants: the tetrandrs. With heights ranging anywhere from three meters to five, these four-armed, four-eyed beasts of men have used their brutality to enforce control and conquest over each other and smaller civilizations. In accordance to their pantheon, the land is governed equally by four kings in a tetrarchy, evenly dividing Macheir in the four cardinal directions. For as long as records show, conquest has been the only way to live for tetrandr officials. Smaller, disparate tribes and species further west have been seized into tetrarchs' control. It was the tetrandrs, in search of chimeric resources, that initiated the continent's first major struggle, known as the Illucid Struggle. Now, nearly a century past, the present four kings of Macheir have aligned themselves with the peaceable wills of chimeras and moets. Or such it would seem, as the king of the southern lands is rumored to seek an opportunity to seize the chimeras' lifeblood once more.   In the present year of 837, close to 100 years after the Illucid Struggle, all three nations must contend with the paths they are set, to understand each other and what drives their people.
