Potions are a liquid material which, when drunken or splashed, can activate the effects of a spell.

Material Characteristics

Potions vary in colour. Usually, their colour is the same as the materials which make it up, but sometimes the colour is completely different.

Compounds

Each spell has a material which occurs somewhat naturally in the world which contains the spell innately inside it. Although not necessary to cast the spell (instead simply speeding up the process), it is necessary if you wish to create a potion of the spell.

Magic-users found that spells usually take too long to cast, especially when faced with a dire situation which you didn't have time to spend 1 hour and 40 minutes casting a Medium-weight spell for, people started developing potions, which took a fraction of the time to make and could be activated in seconds.
