Lord Wallace Grimor

Wallace Grimor was born into a world of privilege and comfort. Raised in a noble family with immense influence, he was the youngest of three siblings and was doted on by his parents. Growing up, he had no sense of purpose or direction, content to simply live a life of luxury and ease.   But his father, wanting him to make something of himself, sent him to the army where his family's prestige and connections propelled him quickly through the ranks. He found a sense of belonging and purpose as a captain in the royal army, but as he rose in power, so too did his vices. He became a heavy drinker and eventually an old, bitter alcoholic. His marriage was one of convenience, and he often sought solace in the arms of women at the capital's establishments. As he aged, he became increasingly out of touch with the world around him, ignorant of the struggles and hardships of those less fortunate. He had never known hardship or grief, and his comfortable life had left him unable to empathize with the plight of others.   Despite his flaws, there was still an air of nobility and grandeur that clung to Wallace Grimor, a remnant of his privileged upbringing. But as the years went by, it became increasingly clear that his life of comfort had left him a shell of a man, with little understanding of the world beyond his own narrow experiences.

He was a great captain when he started out, now he's ignorant and careless. A drunk and a fool, I've lost all respect for him.
— The Ranger

Life in the army

Wallace Grimor's life in the army was marked by privilege and ease. His father's influence and connections ensured that he was immediately given a sergeant position upon joining, bypassing the usual rigors of training and advancement that others in the army had to endure.   As he moved through the ranks, he found a sense of belonging and purpose that had been missing in his comfortable civilian life. He commanded respect and authority, and relished the power and responsibility that came with his position. He quickly became a Captain, and was known for his tactical acumen and strategic thinking, he was respected by his troops and his superiors, who saw him as a natural leader.   But as his power and prestige grew, he became more and more careless. He began to drink heavily, using alcohol as a crutch to cope with the stress and demands of his position. He started to lose touch with reality, and became increasingly reckless in his decision-making, he was often seen as arrogant and careless.   Despite his flaws, Wallace Grimor was still a respected figure in the army, and his soldiers would follow his orders without hesitation. But as the years went by, the weight of his responsibilities and the toll of his vices began to take a toll on him. He grew older and more bitter, and the once-noble captain became a shadow of his former self, a man consumed by his own degeneracy and unable to escape the comfortable world he had always known.
