Sky Whale Platform
Various civilizations have crossed the surface of @Hearth&Heart, and of these forgotten times, many have aspired to bring down the grand creatures known as Sky Whales.
To hunt Sky Whales, All Whaleing platforms are equiped with bi-jointed tri or quad legs to allow ease of elevaton as well as speed. Placed throughout the mid-deck, 3 to 8, 27 cm gas-powered harpoon cannons to allow for snaring of the great beasts.
Beyond that, about a half dozen desicions go into the physical properties of each class of platform:
Whale Type : All whales are hard to kill, but some require thicker or stronger harpoons, which means an entirely diffrent support structure. Local Conflict : Whales are one thing, a prolitariate revolution is another. Most Whalers are busy hunting whales and dont want to have to mount defenses against angry protesters or corrupt tyrants. As such, many larger platforms will be established with ground level counter measures, and small ones usually have the majority of their armor weight placed within the first 10 ft of their legs. Price : Most obvious, people don't like spending too much, and those hunting sky whale usually arent the best off. Societal technology : As society wells and falls various groups try to make whaleing platforms, for the most part sky whaling only exists for a short period before a society over grows its land and collapses again. As such later groups of platform makers have designed their platforms to work even for those who come after them and don't have the detailed information of science as they do. As a result of this any given series of platforms usually only get 2-3 new entries per cycle, and grow as their branding is rediscovered and iterated upon. As of now, roughly 7 platforms remain, and none are in construction.
Overall, the majority of Whaleing platforms are built by small workshops as flag-ship products, acting as any given town or small cities greatest engineering feat (Not that anyone can make new ones anymore) @SkyPlatforms

These are extremely large and powerful constructs, but unless your fighting cthulu, you wont be able to actually hit anything with one. Knock the legs off one... you have a free fortress.
