General Things to Know Before Going into the Wilds

Sean Stonehouse
Hey guys, so there is general information, and some ground rules that I want to set before this campaign starts.   1. Give everyone a chance to show off their characters. I understand that you want your character to be the star of the session, but there are other players that feel the same way about their own characters. Just make sure that you are not upstaging the rest of the players.   2. This is mainly a campaign focused on combat and exploration. If you are big on role playing and you want to be in a game where there is lots of political intrigue, this may not be the campaign for you. However, there might be some interesting plot lines in the City of New Dawn that a party can investigate in the future which would involve that kind of game play if you stick around and look for it as time goes by.   3. You do not have to explore the entire dungeon. It is okay if you do not understand a puzzle, and it is okay if you do not explore every single room in a dungeon. There will be other players that can go through the dungeon again to collect all that is left over from a previous session. All the things that you miss, like if you can't figure out a puzzle, or there is a mini boss that you couldn't defeat you can write in your session article, so people in the future can go through the dungeon again and go through the sections you didn't complete.   4. Combat is unforgiving. There are going to be times where your adventuring party may face a battle that they will lose. The encounters are not perfectly balanced, so do not expect them to be. It is okay to run away from a fight if it is not going in your favor.   5. Character death can happen. As stated previously, some of the encounters are unbalanced, and if not careful your character can die. If this happens, you will be able to roll up a new level 1 character using the rules from the Making Characters article.   6. Be respectful. Not everyone comes from the same background as you and it is good to have fun, but not at the expense of somebody else.   7. DM has final say. If there is ever a rules dispute the Dungeon Master makes the final judgement call. After the session feel free to look at the rules and bring it up to the DM's attention if you believe they made the wrong call, but in the moment the DM has final say.   7. If there are any individual cases where problems arise we can address them as they pop up. If you are ever upset about something that has happened in a session, or anything to do with the game in general, come to me and we can work together to make the playing environment better for you and for everybody else.     Hope to play with you all soon!
