Mechanics & Inner Workings

A wonderlet has two forms, the dormant form of the staff and the active form of the familiar.
The Active form has many abilities such as a telepathic connection to their master who can even see through their eyes. 
The dormant form can be specially infused with magic items that can then activated when holding the staff. Said magic items are tiny sized, mostly gems or rings, held together by a special wood nut, the only caveat is that the staff needs a special engraving to allow said nut to be secured.
Resummoning: Sometimes life happens and a wonderlet is destroyed. When this happens it is not gone forever and instead are able to be restored by going through the spirit realm in a ritualistic dream.

Significance

A wonderlet is a companion and tool to their mage, it's integral to their identity and in some instances their careers. The figurehead/familiar is often reflective of it's owner's personality.

Rarity

Most forms of mages have a wonderlet staff so it's fairly common.

Raw materials & Components

Every wonderlet is made of a material called Sapient Spirit Wood . It's then carved at the bottom with the rune of the wonderlet which gives it life.
