Tasca

History

Before the current inhabitants were there, a civilization known as the Topihec which were master architects and transformed the countryside into a rich farming spot, not in spite of the steep mountain cliffs but because of it. They used an aqueduct system that was highly efficient but has sadly fallen into disrepair. Topihec pottery was also very advanced for the age, being shaped into very intricate faces which are thought to be either rulers or interpretations of saints.

Points of interest

The city has 4 major shrines, one is to the greater nature saint Lorella, the greater saint of life Yondalla, the greater saint of the forge Moradin, and the unnamed saint of the city which has been referred to as simply the Tasca saint. The shrines were all built before the modern people who now inhabit the city.   The twin volcanoes Folt and Perit have been studied for a long time for fire spirits as they are so close to human activity they can study without taking month-long voyages.

Architecture

Most of the city is built on the ruins of an ancient civilization that antiquarians and scholars have yet to understand. The dungeons underneath the city belong to the local government but have become a place for some local beggars to come to roost. These ancient buildings are very blockish and now some yellowish-red. The civilian population makes its home in batlock-style guild long houses or in the local monasteries, all made of the local woods. The island is apparently impoverished in metals so the locals use techniques that get around the use of nails.

Geography

The city rests between two extinct volcanos, and the ancient civilization's stones built their temples, castles, and exterior walls were mined from these volcanoes. They are called Folt and Perit Volcanoes. The volcanic nutrients in the soil have been good for the natural environment, allowing the plant life to grow wild.   Folt and Perit are known for their twin minor saints with the same names and the fire spirits they create.
