Culture and cultural heritage

Mimics are integal to the Naucti way of life. They use giant mimics as boats when not on city ships like capitalia. The mimics feed on plankton and krill like whales but also go after other mimics. Smaller mimics are used like pets and are used in almost every aspect of a naucti's life.
Agriculture some areas foods such as seaweed grow in abundance, in these areas groups of divers/farmers go down and harvest/defend the crops. Communities will swell up around these areas and many will develop a small town if there'ds nearby land. Other related industries are fishing and shark hunting. A key factor of this is migration: stay for a few months and move of on to allow things to regrow.
Moon singer Historians, story tellers, navigators, Moon singers take on all the roles for the naucti. All roles are connecting to their use of celestial markers to tell the stories of their people. Many moon singers will keep their histories and important markers tattooed onto them.

Coming of Age Rites

Mimic Mastery At the age of 17 a naucti boy/girl is sent into a cave where mimics go to lay eggs call Pe Tafenti. They go in and risk life and limb to get a mimic companion and leave gold in the a well in the center of the place.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Burial Grounds A traditional naucti burial ground is made of several ships under the waves which hold cast iron coffins filled with gold, badges of rank, and maps. Their burial grounds are marked by a large pole in the ground with 4 sconces, one for each cardinal direction. The tourches are lit when someone is buried. At the top of the pole is a silver anchor.
Death Offering A death offering is a price that must be paid when under your command. The price can vary regionally, sometimes its gold or your hearts deepest desire. Some followers of different spirits will have additional rules to the matter.

Ideals

Relationship Ideals

Naucti have no cultural marriage ceremony that makes a relationship official. It's 'official' when the other people in their community accept it as such. On the other side of the spectrum they may 'divorce' just as unofficially.
