Thysía

Thysia, also known as the Sacrifice, is a polytheistic religion practiced in Kynos and the parts of the Imperium Vulcanalia that was previously known as Actium.Though its practice was outlawed following the Dwarven Conquest it is still quietly practiced throughout Kynos and very quietly in Actium.   Worship is focused around Cults and their philosopher-priests who strive to understand and convey the mysteries of the Gods, and share their myths through an ancient oral-poetic tradition of verse and lore.

The Gods

The main pantheon of the Thysia is centered around the great King of the Gods, Theos, and his Queen, Erate, who rule over a court of their fellow Gods.

THEOS & ERATE

Theos is the King of all the Gods, and rules heaven and earth from a throne of gold in his palace in the sun. It is believed that he will smite down those who displease him or defy the laws he has set forth for man to follow. He is the God of lightning and thunder, the law, and justice. Kings often take his image and rule in his name.   Erate is the wife of Theos and the Queen of all the Gods. She is as important as her husband in the Thysia pantheon, and she rules beside her husband on a throne of gold in their palace in the sun. She is the Goddess of family, love, and time - as it is said that time may stand still when a person is content with their life and their family.

THEIR COURT

APELLON

He answers the prayers of the mortal world and shields the faithful from harm. He is the God of sunlight, song, and joy.

AREIOS

He gives mankind the strength and will to protect themselves from the primordial evil that seeps into the hearts of those who defy Theos. He is the God of war and strife.

DEIMOS

Deimos is the younger brother of Erate. He walks beside each and every mortal for their entire life, and is there to welcome them to the afterlife when it is their time. He tries to be a kind and comforting God, though despite this all men fear naturally fear him and the death he inevitably brings. He is the God of death and the underworld.

DEMETRIA

Demetria was the elder sister of Theos, and the virgin goddess of the earth. She ruled over farming, harvest, wine, grapes, and grain. She is aloof and apart from her fellow divines, and prefers to concern herself with only the natural world and the spirits therein.

EIRENE

Eirene is the first daughter of Theos and Erate. She is the opposite of her brother, Areios, and is a calm and thoughtful woman whose heart has been broken by the evil that men do. It is said that she weeps for those who are the victims of violence through every night. She is Areios' lover, or would be, but she cannot allow herself to be with him until all the mortal world lay down their swords and learn to live in as one. She is the Goddess of peace and harmony.

NIKOLAOS

Nikolaos was a human man who achieved such great feats of heroics that he was welcomed to Theos' court by the King of the Gods himself. He is the God of competition, greatness, and victory.

PHOIBE

Phoibe is the daughter of Theos and a human woman, Persephone, who was the most beautiful woman who ever lived. Because of the infidelity of her creation, Phoibe is ignored by Theos and hated by Erate, but as she has the divine heart of her father and so cannot be turned away. Phoibe is a trickster goddess who is always looking to undermine her father's reign and sow discord between him and his wife. She is the Goddess of cleverness, trickery, and learning.
