The Kobolds

D&D 5E

  • Ability Score Modifiers: +2 Dexterity, +1 Constitution. OR choose one of (a) Any +2, any other +1 or (b) Any +1, any other +1, any other +1.
  • Size: You are small.
  • Speed: 30 feet.
  • Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were in dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
  • Call to Adventure: You have proficiency in the Athletics and Survival skills. 
  • Draconic Cry: As a bonus action, you let out a cry at your enemies within 10 feet of you. Until the start of your next turn, you and your allies have advantage on attack rolls against any of those enemies who could hear you. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
  • Nimble Escape: You can take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action on each of your turns.
  • Ram: You can use your thick skull to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier bludgeoning damage.
  • Languages: You begin play speaking, reading, and writing Common and one language in which you were raised, which for Kobolds is typically Low Ghukliuk. Kobolds may, if desired, choose one bonus language that you and your DM agree is appropriate.

PATHFINDER 1E

  • Ability Score Modifiers: Kobolds are fast, but their small bodies are weaker than most and their adventurous nature can get them into trouble. They gain -2 Strength, +4 Dexterity, and –2 Wisdom modifier.
  • Size: Kobolds are Small creatures and thus gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty on their combat maneuver checks and to Combat Maneuver Defense, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
  • Type: Kobolds are Humanoids with the Reptillian subtype.
  • Base Speed: 30 Feet
  • Languages: Kobolds begin play speaking Common and Low Ghukliuk. Kobolds with high intelligence may choose additional languages from: Aelfric, Common, Otchipwe, Runic, and Vulcanic.
  • Adventurous: Kobolds gain a +2 racial bonus to Knowledge (Dungeoneering) and Survival checks.
  • Darkvision: Kobolds can see perfectly in the dark up to 60 feet.
  • Natural Armour: Kobolds naturally scaly skin grants them a +1 natural armour bonus.
  • Prehensile Tail: A Kobold's tail is especially flexible and strong, so they've learned to use it for both movement and simple tricks. They gain a +2 racial bonus on Acrobatics and Climb checks, and you can use your tail to draw a hidden weapon as a move action instead of as a standard action.
