Lopenya

Lopenya is the largest continent and the main setting in my book series, The Glass Lament. It is divided into six territories called deyrnes. Four are ruled by a king.   Stalryn is the westernmost deyrne: a sprawling mountain range bordered by a glacier, pine woods, and grasslands. South of this, the floating islands of Fenquil mark the lost civilization of dragons; a criminal underworld seethes in its Shadow. In the farther south the desert and jungle of Denrahjet, where the capital resides, is home to some of the greatest architects and scholars in the known world. The plains and wetlands of Kichea sit at the continent's heart, containing mercantile cities and rural villages.   Beyond the king's reach, the eastern badlands of The Volary are mostly controlled by outlaw factions, such as the winged Raptori. The islands of the Destal Scatter off the eastern coast may seem forbidding, but are as diverse in culture as they are in wildlife. Finally, northern Faanbaer is currently occupied by Nemesi invaders, trapped in the glacial wastes.   Lopenya is an ancient land, but though it has weathered brutal wars, it teeters on the verge of another. And this time, its rich history may be erased forever...
