Plague / Epidemic
The first of the great pandemics of the Days of Fire occurs, hitting areas already half-starved by recent disasters especially hard.
The disease spreads like wildfire, taking full advantage of humans being weakened by starvation. By the end of the year 52 millions are dead, including 19 millions in United States, 12 millions in Europe, five millions in Canada and Mexico, and six millions in North Africa. The drastic means employed by many countries to suppress the spread of the disease causes social tensions in many afflicted countries.
