Green Crash

Financial Event

2039

The greatest economical crisis since the early 20th Century shakes the world.

With the worldwide economy being in tatters following the upheaval of the former 14 years, some economists prophecized some a massive crash to serve as a final nail to the coffin. With the global economy being in major recession for more than a decade, most of people believed that no 'major crash' would occur - and expected the economy to finally recover. Unfortunately, they were wrong. The Green Crash began at 19th of March 2039, and was seen by many as the worst economic crash since the Great Depression. The rest thought that it was the worst crash in entire history of Mankind.   The Crash was caused by a long-delayed end of next Kondratiev cycle. The past form of economy - fossil fuels but with a growing 'green energy' department, constantly expanding internet but still centralized factories overseeing most of industry - simply became outdated. Disasters and political crises only delayed the inevitable transition of economical system. Finally, the disaster struck. A number of bankruptcies of major companies that failed to adapt caused a chain reaction on the markets - and sunk a number of banks. The rest, as they say, was a history.   However destructive it was, the Green Crash paved a way for a new forms of economy to emerge. Fossil fuels were increasingly phased out in favour of nuclear power plants and green energy. Factories in the old meaning were at least partially supplemented by rapidly growing 3D printing and drone-based logistics. Not everyone managed to adapt in time. The concepts of first, second and third world changed overnight. Countries that survived began to recuperate by 2042, their economies not only stabilizing but also slowly (at first) improving.
