Russia Marches Westward
Military action
With European Union - and the anti-China cooperation - falling, the Russian Federation decides to salvage whatever it can. Within a year it seizes Georgia, eastern Ukraine and Belarus during a number of military interventions, Russian-inspired insurgencies and political pressure.
Russian Federation-EU cooperation against China was brief - and its successes were scarce, mostly due to European Union constant indecisiveness. It was also brutally cut short by the Phlegreian Fields eruption. With European Union de facto in the process of dismantling, and the NATO being officially dead, Russia decided to salvage whatever it could in the west.
Ukraine fell within six weeks, with the entire east given to a satelite pro-Russian government. Belarus was seized almost overnight after Lukashenko death (suspected to be assasination). Georgia was half-intimidated half-conquered and changed into another satelite state. With that, Russia created a number of buffer states defending its western borders, allowing it to fully commit to the situation in the east.
