With America de facto gone, the China decides to seize the throne of the world hegemone in one fell swoop. Chinese attacks Korea, Japan and Taiwan simultaneously, seeking to establish dominance over the region.
The Yellowstone eruption de facto unmade the United States. Only the military government of the so-called Eastern United States possessed any influence, but it was too busy trying to prevent the social order from collapsing. With the US sphere of influence worldwide collapsing, China decided to finally establish Pax Sinica. But to achieve that, it had to prevent its remaining enemies from banding up against it. It had to began with establishing its dominance over Asia.
Forces of the People's Republic of China struck simultaneously against South Korea, Taiwan and Japan. Decades long military build-up finally found its fruition. Taiwan fell, South Korea did so as well, and only Japan managed to survive - but only because it sue for peace before China managed to land. Giving up a notable part of its sovereignity in exchange for survivall.
This display of power succesfully intimidated lesser countries in the area. Russia and India, however, refused to give up. Both countries began searching for a way to counter the growing power of the PRC, and did so by strengthening their ties with European Union. All remaining powers of the world united against the Pax Sinica - at least in theory...
