Given their dangerous lifestyles, most Witches live alone. Their isolation, coupled with the sinister forces with which they work, causes them to become more and more eccentric as the seasons pass. Witches can get lonely, regardless of how many familiars they keep or voices they hear in their heads. Some make the arguably foolish decision of taking on an Apprentice.

History

The end of the Great War marked the dawn of a new era of peace. The Old World's powers started communicating and trading with each other again, and that brought many more ideas to the Hedge Wizards of the West. Taking influence from the tiny groups around Kislev and Eastern Norsca, schools and full on academies started cropping up all over Bretonnia, the Empire and the southern coast of Albion.
Yet, six hundred years later, only a couple conventional Academies are left standing. The rest were wiped out by either the unstable Bretonnian regime, uprisings in the Empire, or the lax-but-principled Kings and Queens of Albion.


You are in one of the least hidden schools left, Luna Nova.
Whether you transferred here by choice, by necessity, because of your idols, or you just enrolled because you wanted to, it's one of the most accepted institutions for witches and wizards in the Old World. Through extensive cooperation with the government, strict rules and good quality of education, Luna Nova has remained a good choice for any aspiring Hedge Wizard throughout the centuries.
Yet, it still keeps some of its old traditions going, hidden away from the watchful eye of anyone wanting to "peek in" by one of the greatest manmade wonders in the world: a barrier of pure energy taken straight from the Leylines flowing around the island of Albion, hiding away the school and disguising it to outsiders as an ancient meteor crater.
