Unwasteds

Summary

The Unwasteds were a party from an apocalyptic reality known as the Malevolent Wastes . This party consisted of Halfling Monk Harlo Alderlead, Human Scribe Mabel Bloodsworth AKA Lycan Subskrybe, Human Tempest Cleric Tolvig Thundersong, and Human Circle of Spores Druid Vilnathari. Only Harlow and perhaps Mabel still exist somewhere on Limoneyrs, though versions of all four still exist in a version of their original universe.

Biography

Formation

The Unwasteds began as a duo of strangers who met in the Last Forest Inn during an outbreak of Zombies. Luckily, the duo - Tolvig Thundersong and Vilnathari were able to manage this problem during the events of Malevolent Wastes, Chapter 1 using a time machine provided by Oscomb Inchgood.   Unfortunately, after dealing with the Zombie's master - The Undertaker - the party accidentally killed Oscomb and were left with no access to time travel and the looming threat of the Necromancer's apprentice, Elidar, getting revenge on them.

Oscombing Through the Forest

Needing Oscomb's help, the pair decided they would need to have him resurrected by a powerful caster in the Cheerless Coast. However, his body was dragged into the Rot Forest by one of its many monsters at the start of Malevolent Wastes, Chapter 2. Tolvig and Vilnathari were joined by a Hafling Monk - Harlo Alderlead - as they followed the bloody trail into a shallow cave, where they looked on in horror as the saw a Lizardfolk chewing on the Gnome's leg.   Kosk, the hungry female Lizardfolk, stopped when she saw the party. They begged her not to fully consume the Gnome, and she agreed with one condition. Her entire tribe, the Dreadfangs, had been murdered by three witches and she wanted revenge! A fierce warrior, Kosk wanted to take on the witches alone but she had a brood of hatchlings to look after. Vilnathari reluctantly carried the eggs, and the party and Kosk traveled to the Witches' Hut. Unfortunately, Harlo was knocked out on the way and became embroiled in legal troubles.   During the events of Malevolent Wastes, Chapter 3, Kosk, Tolvig, and Vilnathari traveled to the Witches' Hut. They battled the Witch sisters, Festra and Dementia, and the Witches' sister-in-law, the Witch Missouri. The party snuck inside the hut and raided the Witches' potion supply. Vilnathari pocketed a Potion of Wish for later, and Kosk mistakenly consumed a Love Potion. Kosk fell madly in love with Vilnathari, to which Vilnathari seemed indifferent. The party overcame the Witches, grabbed Oscomb's corpse, and returned to the Last Forest Inn. Kosk followed faithfully.

Body of Work

The party was relieved to find Harlo at the inn. He had somehow survived the Bullywugs, and was annoyed but still willing to travel with the others on a quest he thought would ultimately lead to the defeat of the Wizard-King. TThe crew discussed how they might revive Oscomb. During this chat they met a local celebrity: Mabel Bloodsworth, the former Scribe of the Wizard-King from the time of the 100 Year War. Mabel and Vilnathari hit it off quite well, to the dismay of Kosk, when Mabel revealed she had researched a new way to safely consume Rotspores. Mabel agreed to join the party and the crew began setting out towards the Cheerless Coast to find the Herald of the Spirits.   Before they could leave, a squad of the Kingsgaurd entered the inn. Captain Tyiln inquired about the town’s Zombie situation and was eventually escorted by Tolvig, Vilnathari, and the inkeepers, Vendi and Vovok, to the Gravesmere Mausoleum. Harlo and Mable waited inside, and were denied the right to leave. On the way to the Undertaker’s Lair, Tolvig found Urk the Ogre unconcious and on death's door. Tolvig helped him up. Urk didn't know a lot.
"Urk stand guard for boss here. Urk see black. Urk wake up on ground. Human stood over Urk." - Urk the Ogre relaying to Tolvig the details he remembered about the attack.
Apparently, Urk was blindsided while standing guard for his boss outside of the mausoleum. The adventurers and Captain Tyiln eventually found the merchant dead nearby, apparently killed by whatever force wounded Urk. The original duo and Captain Tyiln continued inside the Mausoleum.   Mable grew impatient. She was a regular at the Last Forest Inn, and had personally worked with the Kingsguard. They were notoriously power hungry tyrants, and she worried for the safety of her friend, Vendi the barmaid. Mabel let the dog out, morphing into a terrifying wolf, and clawing into her armored babysitters.
"It's time to Lycan Subskrybe." - Mabel Bloodsworth before taking a bite into crime.
Unaware of the fighting, Tolvig and Vilnathari told Captain Tyiln the truth about The Undertaker, a story that was almost more difficult to believe than a lie. The Captain, surprisingly, believed their story and was getting ready to follow their lead towards Elidar. However, Captain Tyiln, taking advantage of his authority, decided to pull his weapon on them for breaking a minor crime. This brutish authority figure escalated the situation unnecessarily, and the adventurers matched him with extreme force.   Back at the Last Forest Inn, equal force was on display when, wolf-lady, ‘Stable’ Mable and, lizard-woman, Kosk made short work of the guards. Harlo, an acolyte of Light, swiftly and peacefully disabled another guard in the upstairs hallway without shedding any blood.   In the Mausoleum, Vilnathari had temporarily rendered Captain Tyiln unconscious as well, but this was short-lived. Not a single member of the Kingsguard made it out of Gravesmere alive, and actually several of them were in chunks or pieces by the end of the morning.   The party took the guards’ horse-drawn cart, loaded up Oscomb’s corpse and their gear, and set out for the Cheerless Coast. As they left Gravesmere, they noticed Urk - with no place to go - assisting the community by picking up and burying the guards that the party tortured and slaughtered. The party traveled for the rest of the day, passing by barren fields and run down houses. They passed by several sick and famished people as they were pulled by strong regal horses down the overcast cobblestone road.   During the trip, Vilnathari told the rest of the party about The Undertaker’s journal, left open by whoever killed Baldrick, to a page that mentioned other Necromancers. The journal was vague about their exact location but claims that the Necromancers have hidden themselves in a community near the supposed location of the mythical Sanctum of Light. The Undertaker's evil ring pulls in the same general direction.   Harlo - wanting to protect his companions and put a stop to evil - tells the party that the Sanctum of Light is real, and that they will help stop the evil Necromancers. The party is hesitant to lengthen their journey at the cost of Oscomb’s life. However, Harlo insists that The Sanctum of Light can - more than likely - offer better help than the Servants of Valkur can.
