Florecura

The florecura is the most curious of plants; an invisible perennial flower grown on bushes possessing the ability to seemingly siphon the illness and injury out of another living thing. Due to this incomprehensible nature and ability, and the proven sustenance it gives to thaumativores, the florecura is classified as a magical plant.

Anatomy

Due to the florecura's natural state of invisibility, one does not typically see the appearance of the flower unless it is used to absorb a physical illness or condition out of something, thus taking on the colours of what it absorbs in a marble-like pattern. (If absorbing a bruise, it appears as black, blue and purple, if a cut, red, etc.). Utilizing this method, one will see a flower the size of an adolescent's hand, with five or six petals and a small pistil.

The florecura grows on a bush not unlike that of a rose.

Ecology and Habitats

As a result of their unnatural way of gaining energy, florecura are able to survive in any relatively warm area with good soil, as long as there many other plants and creatures around them. They are however found naturally only in boreal forests.

As most magical plants, the florecura's way of consuming energy is wholly unique to it. Witches and wizards have yet to figure out how, but in absorbing the condition out of another living thing, it gains not only the colours of that condition but any energy it might have taken. In the wild, other plants thrive in the proximity of the florecura, and several woodland beasts such as deer, foxes, and wolves know to seek bushes out if hurt or sick. As a result, the ecosystem and the plant help one another grow.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The florecura is a rare and obscure plant whose existence is unknown to most of the human world and many other species. This however does not mean that it is not used by many.

Intelligent thaumativores, especially pixies and goblins, are known to grow and harvest florecura, which they export and eat. Goblins and other thaumativorous demons tend to roast the flowers or eat them raw, while pixies use them as herbs and garnishes in their meals. Not only does the florecura provide them with energy, it also keeps them healthy. The pixie and goblin populations are large for this reason.

The plant is also sometimes used as food by elves and pandeans, though this is a much rarer occurrence. It is, however, used in medicine by elves, pandeans, and humans alike. Due to its rarity, doctors are careful with usage and tend to save them as a last resort.

Knowledgeable human gardeners are the only people known to use florecura in gardening, taking advantage of its properties to make the rest of their gardens thrive.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The exact scope of locations florecura grow naturally is unsure as a result of their invisibilty. Florecura has been found so far in various areas in the Free Lands, western Jemine (notably the Forest of the Silver Horn), and norther Avalous.
