Ap Anish

Formerly known as CFC (California Farming Commune), this is the largest farm that Zero's group of infected control. Mostly worked by infected who used to live in Taqfleck, the land was purchased by Zero's legal team in December 2017 with the sole intention of providing a more sustainable food source. Roughly 80% of their farm-based labor is devoted to traditional agriculture, with the remaining 20% experimenting with microclimates, hydroponics, etc.   In addition to farming, Ap Anish is home to several exotic animals that would have otherwise been out down due to them becoming infected. Because of how California laws around keeping elephants and stuff work, Ap Anish technically contains a small public zoo. The zoo is about a mile from the farm proper but during the formation of Licentia the zookeepers voted to remain considered part of Ap Anish rather than splintering into a separate community. It has three stars on Yelp.   The name of this commune is derived from the Chumash word ‘ap aniš, which means village. š is pronounced like the English sh sound and‘ is a glottal stop. The vowels are roughly like those of Spanish.

Defences

For months this community was largely undefensed as its location was not known to the general population in Los Caídos. Nowadays it is patrolled by guards and uses gases that make non-infected ill to reduce the risk of attack. (The gases are not used near the zoo.) These defense mean non-infected cannot work on this farm.   The infected lions that live in Ap Anish are yet another deterrant.

Industry & Trade

Ap Anish is almost entirely a farming community, and any activities that are not farming are essentially involving the infrastructure to support said farmers or are directly connected to the zoo. The zoo does not attract enough paying visitors to break even especially considering members of Licentia get in for free, but Licentia's science team insists that easy access to infected animals has made the money drain well worth it.

History

The land was originally purchased by a group of lawyers acting under guidance from Zero in 2017, prior to the founding of Licentia. it was originally intended as an extension of Taqfleck, which does not have much arable land. However, the inhabitants voted to make it separate from Taqfleck not long after living their full time. Still, it has close ties to Taqfleck and many of its workers commute between the two communes.   At first, the exotic animals all came from a zoo in Los Caídos where a zookeeper infected some of the animals, but a few more have joined from states where people keep exotic pets. This agreement was one of the first times Zero's faction (it would be incorrect to call it Licentia as Licentia had not formally been founded yet) successfully worked with the state of California to pass their standards for keeping exotic animals.   As of May 2018, Ap Anish had a population of 3250.

Architecture

Someone, even the zoo is farmcore.
