Xachae (Xah-SHEE)

Xachae is a Lexiconian traditional headdress worn by women and girls. It has an very long history, with it's wearing interwined with wealth, power, status, and has even inspired many great works of art.     Xachae is a tall crest-shaped headress made out of gold which covers the entire hair, with two detachable pendants, called takt (Tay-ch), one on each side and streaming down, reaching the shoulders. The base, which is a skull cap, that supports the crest and rests tightly on the head, is usually left plain or with ridges. A takt is made in the shape of a medallion, with several long chains attached. The medallion was often carved and exquistely designed. Xachae is considered not complete without tach, as it is thought as an essential part of the headress. The crest was often decorated with intricate abstract designs, and even with Lehkcia script, containing sayings and words. When wearing a Xachae, the woman usually puts her hair in a low bun and wears fancy or formal clothes.
