Parthan, Queen of the Sea
Parthan is the Goddess of the Sea, and one of the least worshipped Gods. However, many coastal villages or cities worship Parthan in the hopes she will provide them with bountiful catches and calm waters. Of peculiar note, she is also known as a god of the Cold. She is often depicted as a woman, covered in scales wielding a trident.
Parthan, Queen of the Sea, is regarded as the patroness of the oceans and their bounties. She is commonly depicted as a woman covered in fish scales and wielding a trident and/or a net. Icons of her authority are often things that one would recover from the sea, such as shells, corals, or pearls. She is also sometimes regarded as the goddess of the cold. The most ancient legend associated with Parthan says that she was the first of the gods to discover Azura, and made it her home by covering it in endless seas. She ruled it as her own until Stratalus discovered it and invaded, raising the continents from the seas to make his own kingdom where he would not have to be ruled by Astraleus. Parthan is said to still bear a great hatred for Stratalus, which is why her waves and tides endlessly assault his shores. It is widely believed that Parthan and Temaur are siblings, and work hand-in-hand as to provide water to Selvas’ creations, both granting similar powers in their spheres.
Parthan is the sustaining source of the ocean and its great power. Waves, tides, and floods all originate from her wrath. Coastal and seafaring peoples worship her in order to avoid her ire in the form of devastating tsunamis, and to secure her blessings in the form of rich catches of seafood and calm waters.
The core beliefs of Parthanism centre around temperence, self-reliance, bonding, fluidity and discovery.
The Axioms are universal tenants which Parthanists abide by, which were - according to The Book of Creation - originally presented to the Three Peoples by Saint Jubar the Redeemed at the beginning of the migration to the coasts during the days of Early Civilizations.
- The Covenant made between Parthan and a mortal is Sacred, and must not be broken.
- All are seen as equal in the eyes of Parthan. Treat others with respect, as such respect would be mutual.
- The Seas are sacred, therefore one must refrain from corrupting them.
- Just as Her Majesty’s Covenant is of the utmost importance, so are the covenants between one’s self and the one’s they trust the most, both family and friends. Trust is a very rare commodity, and should not be taken for granted
- One must not indulge in unrighteous forces, as they are bound to corrupt one's mind and those closest to oneself.
- One must Reflect the virtues of Her Majesty within yourself. Be humble, generous, benevolent, and forgiving. Seek to instill strength, dedication, and honesty within yourself. Be righteous.
- One must only resort to violence when it is in defense of the good of yourself and those around you- strive to maintain peace. The act of enacting harm onto another is a solemn act, so do not take joy in the shedding of blood, nor be excessive in the pain you inflict.
- Never harm an aquatic Creature you do not intend to kill for food or sacrifice, for they are Parthan’s creations. Respect the aquatic Creature, especially when you infringe on Its territory, but sentient life takes priority.
- Do not attempt to hoard the Sea’s bounty or attempt to match Her Majesty’s might. Greed and pride are the foulest of the Vices.
- Reap only what you may sow, do not take what does not belong to you whether that be the possessions or person of another.
- Just as one should not corrupt the sea, neither should one corrupt the land, or its denizens.
- The Fate of one’s self is ultimately discovered, and not predetermined. It is the actions of one self that dictate what they either create or destroy. Live wisely.
