Introduction to Basic Concepts
Through meticulous observation of mancy in action, as well as the examination and experimentation of one’s own abilities, the questions of “where did it come from?” and “where does it go?” are inevitable, for when a Cryomancer summons their ice out of thin air, or a Pyromancer pushes a burst of flames out of seemingly nowhere, one must wonder where did the energy come from, and where it is set back to, if anywhere, and most importantly, the processes behind such an event. After reading merely the first paragraph one must reach the startling obvious conclusion that these materials have been fueled by the energy that what we have come to know and name Vitor is, however, it goes further into the rabbit hole than that. Through my previous studies of Pyromancy, as well as more recent ones, I have determined that Vitor in Pyromancers is used to not only fuel the flame, but to spark it, meaning it suffers two transformations, one which is an instantaneous transformation, and the other being a continuous one, fueling the flames. Vitor, then could be classified as an energy that takes its shape from the will of their user, however such broad terminology would not only be too abrangent, but wrong too, for a Pyromancer cannot will their vitor into becoming a puppy, for instance. Every mancer seems to be locked into one aspect of either reality, or subreality such as psychomancers, and for those two concepts to be better understood, here is a brisk overlook on them: Reality is what we know of the natural world, its elements such as the air we breathe, the fire that warms us, the water we drink, and the ground we stand on. However, into the reality category, things that are directly connected to those elements are also considered, for instance the light that bathes our world, the lightning that condenses from fire, and the ice that forms from water. What they all have in common is that they do not care for the nuances of life, all of these things would and could exist without plants or people, and for that, they are the base reality, the ground on which everything else stands on. And thus, in subreality we have Psychomancy, Herbomancy, Carnomancy and Necromancy, these all have their roots on life, and require such life to function. Knowing that then, Vitor could be now properly classified as the energy that interacts with the recipient’s soul, which is marked by their attunement in much the same way as grooved kinoro marks it for vitor, and because of these markings in their soul, one can guide vitor in different “directions” which is what causes their vitor to respond to one mancy or another. Which also explains why a person cannot and shouldn’t even attempt to attune more than once. While mostly theoretical, since I am no soul researcher, I have come to think of this conclusion from my own experience as a mancer, my attunement, and observation of others during their cast, their mancy, energy as well as the help of psychomancers alongside many other sources. Though, one might come to think that many of the subjects I’m going through have nothing to do with the bigger picture, the conservation of energy in the universe. Long before me there have been those who said the following bit of wisdom: “From nothing, nothing comes, there isn’t a thing that can be created from nothing, and no thing can ever disappear without reason, nothing is ever created, nor destroyed, for everything is always transformed.” This in turn is extremely relevant to mancy. Take a Cryomancer for example. who seemingly conjures ice out of nowhere. This ice’s creation was fueled by vitor, which not only transformed itself into something that lowered temperatures, but also into frozen water, actual frozen water, a real object. However, the magic world and the real world are conflicting, and the ice can only exist in this universe for so long before needing its caster to refuel it (If conjured, not manipulated) therefore the ice vaporizes, though not into water or vapour, but back into Vitor, which is how the universe conserves energy and mass. Attunement to the Void
The question that has bothered researchers for hundreds of years is what exactly happens during one’s attunement, and how is it that the attunement grants one the ability to interact with the natural energy of the world we know as Vitor, which permeates the entire reality, interacting with very few things in its path. One of the things this abundant natural energy chooses to interact with are the very well known metals, most of which completely stop Vitor from flowing through them, some weaken the flow to the point it's almost null, and some metals, very rare ones may even improve the flow of vitor, interacting with it in a positive way. Some may say that empirical observation, the scientific method and research are not the correct approach to mancy, and that one may never truly understand it if they grow away from the ‘spiritual’ path of mancy, however, not only that is false, but also misleading in its own way. Some people are fond of thinking of mancy as if it was some form of thaumaturgy, a religious magic that connects us to the myths of the spirits that appeared so long ago, blessing people with the ability to channel Vitor through their bodies. However, magic isn’t an incomprehensible tool, it is a complex one, indeed, though through enough observation, study and testing it can be fully understood without the need of myths or disregard for reality. Through simple observation, one may notice the way metals interact with Vitor, for explaining purposes I will limit myself to two different metals: Kinoro and Steel. As you may already know, steel completely blocks the passage of Vitor with just a few millimeters of the material, grooved, this effect is amplified for what really affects the vitor flow is the surface area of the metal interacting with the natural flow from the world into the mancer, and from the mancer to the world. Kinoro on the other hand works differently: If left untouched, for instance in the shape of a bar, smooth and soft, its properties block Vitor in much the same way as Steel does, absorbing the vitor into itself and radiating it away in an useless form, however, if properly grooved these markings on the metal are able to naturally guide the flow of Vitor along the channels, constantly interacting with natural Vitor and thus allowing the user’s Vitor to much more naturally be pulled into the outside flow, therefore aiding one in casting spells. This allows one to make the natural conclusion that perhaps, the ‘physical’ state of something is directly related to how it interacts with something else, as is the case to ANYTHING in nature. If not properly made, glass isn’t clear to see through, steel armour is brittle, and a Kinoro wand doesn’t aid in casting. The same is true to one’s soul: During attunement, your very soul is guided into the Void, where your consciousness (your soul) is tested for knowledge, aptitude and willpower, perhaps by the dimension itself, or a higher consciousness, however your knowledge is the only test you’re aware of, for the other two happen simultaneously, as your soul itself is grooved in much the same way Kinoro is. Your soul therefore, as Kinoro and Nahuanl, is a vitor conductor that may only be properly activated through the treatment your soul receives during attunement, through the grooves that are engraved and cause your Vitor to flow in different directions, allowing you to cast spells. The same way a smooth surface of Kinoro doesn’t allow vitor to pass through, but a grooved one enhances its flow, when one’s soul is born, their soul is smooth so to speak, Vitor doesn’t flow through but around it, however once they attune, their soul is engraved, grooved, and then these grooves and marks guide Vitor through their souls, through their recently formed Vitor pools, and finally transform them into a mancer. This grooving of the soul is also the reason why one may NOT attune into two different forms of Mancy, each groove is not only unique to the individual’s soul, but to their Mancy, guiding their Vitor down a specific path through their soul. If one were to attempt attuning once more to another Mancy, new grooves would be placed on top of the already existing ones, causing their Soul itself to be completely ruined and lost, as we observe with those who have attempted before. In conclusion, Mancy is an aspect of reality, an aspect of the true nature of our world, and as any aspect, with enough thought, observation and testing, one could unveil any secret of reality.
