Delving into Aeromancy

by Nare Lizca   Introduction to the basic concepts
‘Tis not a gruesome task to undertake the lessons in becoming something of an Aeromancer, many do seem to think that, because of the complexity of spells and incantations that one such Aeromancer may cast, this mancy is deviously hard to not only understand, but to be actually put to proper use.   Fear not, for in this very book lies the secret to the knowledge of Aeromancy itself, which, as every mancy does, shapes reality into the will of the user, and it is limited merely through the minds and imaginations of those who dare cast such mancy.   The first thing worthy of note when dealing with Aeromancy is that said element - wind - is present almost anywhere in our world, and even in the most peculiar of places, where one would think that no wind should be present at all. ‘Tis not the air that we breathe? ‘Tis not the air that we speak through? ‘Tis not the air that fills the lungs of life itself on Azura? To know better about your mancy is to delve into deep philosophical debates about it, and engage in scientific discussions as well as experimentation and thinkering.   The air we breathe is the most well known form of bending the winds themselves into our will, however, every Aeromancer has the gift to not only control that, but almost anything that assumes the form of a gas. And through the aforementioned experimentation, one should be able to notice that this form of matter exists in everything! From inside the water ro inside rocks themselves, one must only know where to look, and what to do to say matter to extract the gasses contained inside.   It is from my observation that the powers of electricity, or, electromancy are able to strike stone continuously in such a way that the gasses contained inside said stone are freed from it. The same goes to water and almost any other material known to us mortals, but for reasons still unknown. It is my theory that, every material known behaves similarly to how water does, having a solid, liquid and gaseous state, however, it might be also true that small components join together into objects to form something now, like a blacksmith’s alloy for instance, for when water suffers its metamorphosis into gas through electricity, it cannot be re-joined into water once more, and the same goes to rocks and stones disassembled the same way, thus, they were turned into something else entirely.   From my observations of the universe, nothing is ever created and nothing is ever lost, for everything that has ever existed has been doing so since the beginnings of time, and was merely transformed through any means imaginable into whatever it may be today.   But, returning from the tangent and explanation of gasses, Aeromancers are able to control any of these gases at will, and even doing tests with the temperature of the air that was being controlled has shown me that there is no real limit of temperature of air an Aeromancer may control, and sometimes the line between Aeromancy and Cryomancy and Pyromancy may even get a little blurry, but for one to control such extremely hot or cold gasses, they require an almost unfathomable amount of Vitor and experience, as proven by the tests conducted by me, my mentor, the Magis Faolin Cypress-Sonomi, and my wife, Lydia Enyx.   When I started my path to become the Aeromancer I am today, I had no power, no knowledge of anything, no way of really progressing until my mentor shined a light into my situation.   For many, to start practicing Aeromancy is hard for the element we control is often completely invisible to the unaided eye, however this might be changed by simply conjuring strings of air around oneself, and lifting with it sawdust or any other very light material in the hopes of better seeing and understand how air flows. This method of seeing your own flow is known as Proepisication, and many a Aeromancer use it frequently in order to better understand themselves and their mancy.   Speaking of Air flow, it is also worth noting that the air that surrounds us behaves much the same as all liquids do, for it flows around in invisible streams and rivers, that we feel as winds and breezes hitting us with their currents, and much the same way that oceans may have vortexes of water, the air produces mighty hurricanes that level anything in their path, indeed one of the strongest forces of nature.   Moving on with the lessons, once an Aeromancer is able to reliably control his strings of air, and instinctively guide them, they should focus their training onto doing multiple different actions at the same time. Starting by rotating strings of air at opposite directions, and then slowly make your way into more complex forms of casting, dealing with the pressure air imposes on our bodies, floating heavy objects by using the concepts of lift, and condensing air into a certain point to use it as an impacting blunt object.   To better understand how to deal with pressure in Aeromancy, one must first tackle the physical concepts of pressure in the real world, and understand them completely. It is imperative that one knows what pressure is, and as it was defined by those who came before me, pressure is the force applied perpendicular to the surface of an object per unit area over which that force is distributed.   For this force to be correctly used and measured, I have taken the liberty of creating a unit of measurement, which was named “Nare”, and it represents as follows:   1 Nare in Azura’s gravity is the equivalent weight of 1/9.8 Kg on our planet, which was derived from calculating the acceleration of objects falling back onto the ground. This unit of measurement may be used for pressure, weight and any other application of force, and can be shortened to merely N, which could be calculated using the simple equation of the mass of the object multiplied by its acceleration, which in turn, is defined by the rate of change of velocity per unit of time.   This way pressure can be measured as the amount of force applied into a certain area, this is useful for understanding how every single thing that has weight can be used to cause pressure, including air itself. Tests were conducted beforehand by me in order to determine the usefulness of pressure.   The way higher and lower pressures than the standard atmospheric pressure we’re always experiencing but never noticing are phenomenal. I have submitted an apple to an incredibly high pressure, and then merely decasted. In that very moment, the pressure built up around the apple was completely overtaken by the normal atmospheric pressure, and the sudden change caused the apple to implode on itself.   There are many more concepts of air pressure to go over, however they are all very well detailed in Faolin’s book. For now, I bid you, my reader, farewell, and good practice of your mancy, do keep a sharp mind, for that is the core of a mancer.
