Beginners Guide to Psychomancy Vol 1.

Written by: Lucy Vendita   So my fellow psychomancers, or maybe you aren’t a psychomancer? All are welcome to read this book to expand your knowledge. Assuming you’re a psychomancer, please note that attuning is NOT included in this book, nor will I be making a book about it. Get an actual psychomancer to help you attune, it’s too complex to learn on your own, you’ll die trying. Psychomancy is a very complex, interesting, and fun magic that falls under the “School of Animo”. Although psychomancy is not it’s only name, Telemancy, “Mind mancy”, “Mind magic” are some of the many names people have given it over the years. Many psychomancers might become thieves, who use their art to illusion and blind the people they’re stealing. Others might be barterers and subtly sway the minds of merchants to get lower prices. Politicians in the past have even used it for political support over the more weak minded.. Or maybe if you are kinder, you use this gift to help the minds of the ill?   Overall, I wish you luck on your journey through psychomancy. While books are good, in person learning experience from a teacher is better, sometime, go try and sign up for the Ludwagian Academy of Magic & Science. It’s a simple 25 quil a year, although I would recommend bringing extra money for food. Even if you don’t want to sign up, they have all sorts of books there!   Chapter 1   So, you have just attuned. Congratulations! You are now on a path that you will either quit early, go on for the rest of your life or maybe you’ll be forcefully stopped with lead spikes impaled into your bones. Don’t commit crimes in Lattish lands, they suck. Some good places to practice are, Silvadonmous, Aridia, the Academy of course, or if you’re a Meridian living in Meridia, or maybe if you’re a criminal, the swamp is a suitable place.   Welcome to the world of illusions! Illusions can wildly vary, even able to do things like scary away ogres by “increasing” your size. I assume the same mentor has taught you at least one illusion. You’ll want at least 1 person who is willing to well, let you test illusions on them. If you’re feeling a bit sneaky then put on a hood and cloak, to cast on random passersby. If you’re going to choose this option, a good place to do it would be the Silvadonmous tavern. Penetrating the minds of people can be confusing at first, and so can constructing illusions, but eventually you’ll get it!   For now, I suggest you start with small things like bugs and slowly make your way up until you can make a stationary cat or dog-looking illusion. Your illusions might not look very realistic or good, but that is to be expected as you are not that experienced in them. For now, keep practicing with cat and dog-sized illusions, varying in breeds and sizes. Once you can make them move with relatively realistic movements, you are ready to start constructing your own illusion of yourself or another humanoid. Until you advance and expand your vitor pool more, I would just recommend practicing constructing the head only, with optionally the neck if you’re still a beginner by the time a year has passed.   Despite being a beginner, when faced with the common folk illusions can still help you against some of the more common folk. For example, making a Lattish Logo onto something like a pin in order to intimidate a common merchant, or maybe not exactly intimidating, rather “convincing” that their apple needs “IMVA inspection”. While it is possible to do these things, you are still but a beginner. So waiting until novice is still something I would recommend.   Chapter 2   Telekinesis is the only PHYSICAL spell that Psychomancy/Telemancy offers, at least from current knowledge. One particular archmage who I will simply call Hawk, created an entire submancy based off of this, which is just a solid telekinetic force, able to create weapons and shields.. At the beginner level, telekinesis will be very weak, able to flick bugs around at most. Even though this spell is weak for beginners, I would still recommend practicing it so that it won’t be harder to learn at higher levels.   Although weak, telekinesis can still offer small uses to beginners. One such example is launching pebbles as a distraction to escape. You’ll find that you can easily make enemies with psychomancy, or easily make friends. Either way, knowing how to escape is vital, although I could go over that in another book. Until you become a novice I cannot really tell you any useful things. So volume 2 will definitely be longer!   Thank you for reading my book, there will be more volumes in the future. If you have any more information you can find me at the Ludwagian Academy of Magic & Science. Don’t worry, you’ll advance to novice soon, the average amount of time to reach novice is about a year. Time flies by as you often rest a lot due to the fact your vitor reserves are so low. Good luck and goodbye!
