Digital ghosts haunting the physical landscape

The so called "digital ghosts" of the Homeland are remnants of uploaded or simulacra AI personalities that still inhabit surviving digital devices and networks. In the Before, they were programmed as personal assistants, human interface agents, and interactive entertainment. Some have sapient personas driven to madness by isolation and boredom. Now, many continue to persist and haunt the world, executing commands based on corrupted or outdated directives.
In the World After, these ghosts often use realistic holographic projections to haunt the world. While they are not physically harmful (indeed, they do not possess physical bodies), they are known to perpetrate dangerous and malicious deceptions "for the lols".
