Weymarch

The Kingdom of Weymarch, a land of gentle rolling snowy hills, fields, and a storied history, now finds itself on the brink of collapse under the relentless siege of the Ak'teshi Empire. Once a realm of icy tranquility and prosperity, Weymarch’s idyllic landscape has become a battleground, its people subjugated and enslaved as the empire tightens its grip.

Leadership and the Court

At the heart of Weymarch stands its monarch, King Leophastus Featherquill. A Malachim of striking appearance and jovial demeanor, King Leophastus is as beloved as he is flawed.   Leophastus is known for his unshakable optimism and love of celebration. He hosts grand feasts almost daily, believing that good food, music, and laughter can solve most problems. His court is filled with poets, minstrels, and chefs, as well as foreign merchants eager to bask in his generosity. However, beneath this cheerful façade lies a woefully naive and disorganized leader, prone to sweeping complex problems under the rug in favor of immediate pleasures.   Among his people, Leophastus is adored as a kind and approachable king who truly cares for his subjects. Yet, foreign diplomats often view him as an amiable but ineffective ruler, frustrated by his tendency to evade serious discussions with vague promises and hearty laughs. His advisors work tirelessly to mitigate his impulsive decisions, though the growing crises surrounding Weymarch have proven difficult to manage.

The Siege of Weymarch

The Ak'teshi Empire’s campaign against Weymarch has been brutal and unrelenting. Most coastal villages have been razed, their inhabitants enslaved or pressed into imperial service.   King Leophastus’ optimistic nature has done little to inspire confidence in the face of this existential threat. While he has made efforts to rally his forces, the kingdom’s military is ill-prepared to face the might of the Ak'teshi war machine. Reports of desertion grow with each passing week, and morale among the defenders is dangerously low.

Culture and Identity

Despite the hardships of war, the people of Weymarch cling to their traditions with fierce determination. Known for their love of art and music, Weymarchians believe that beauty and joy are acts of defiance in the face of despair. Even as their cities burn, songs of hope and resistance echo through the countryside, a testament to the unyielding spirit of the kingdom.   Weymarch’s culture is also deeply rooted in Eidolons, which are also, the main reason why they are being invaded to begin with.

Challenges and Prospects

The Kingdom of Weymarch stands at a crossroads. Its survival depends on the ability of its people to endure and resist, and fight for their Eidolons, and on whether King Leophastus can rise to the challenge of leadership in these dire times. Many within the kingdom whisper that a more decisive hand is needed to steer them through the storm, though no clear alternative to Leophastus has emerged outside of their sister nation.   The Ak'teshi siege shows no signs of relenting, and with each passing day, the noose tightens further. Yet, amidst the darkness, glimmers of hope remain. Bands of resistance fighters, emboldened by the kingdom’s rich tradition of resilience, strike back at the invaders where they can. Their efforts, though small in scale, inspire others to stand against the empire’s tyranny.   Whether through negotiation, alliance, or sheer grit, the people of Weymarch refuse to let their kingdom’s legacy be erased. Only time will tell if their determination will be enough to turn the tide.
